“Friendly wine shop”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

This shop stocks a bunch of wines from the local regions in Oregon. I'm very familiar with the wines of the Willamette Valley and the Columbia Gorge, but the wines from Southern Oregon were new for me. Carrie (the helpful, welcoming owner) or one of her staff will help you find something you like. Tastings are available. Carrie also makes tasty homemade bread and other goodies on-site. The Yachats Farmers Market takes place right outside (on Sundays), so it's a good place to stock up on goodies for your journey or your vacation rental.

“Warm Welcome with your Wine!”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

Whether you are wanting to nestle into your vacation rental or hotel room, to sit out and watch the sunset, to visit with friends, or to escape the cold and rain, The Wine Place has just what you need.
Carrie offers quite an impressive collection of wines, beers, ciders, and other specialty drinks like refreshing natural sodas. A selection of various prepared snacks from stuffed grape leaves to candied ginger are also available. Fresh baked bread, cakes, and other special surprises like home style mac&cheese are real treats to enjoy with your drink(s).
We find The Wine Place to be a great place to sit for a spell, meet new people, or enjoy the ones we have known for a while.
Check the website for special events like wine tastings.

“Stop here!”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

This little shop is awesome! We wanted some wine to take to our hotel, and Carrie is the very pleasant and knowledgeable owner. We got a great recommendation, as well as some delicious snacks! Will have to go back and hang out there next trip out!

“People with money to spend are looking for you!”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

First, the positive: This is a nice shop with a nice selection of wines and most of the trimmings. If you're looking to stock up for a wine and cheese picnic on the beach or at your hotel, expect to go to at least one other local store to complete your menu. They have some nice breads baked in-house by the proprietor, and a jar of olives or two along with a small selection of crackers, but no artisan salamis or the like. Go to the video store/organic food store just south on 101 for that.

The bad: Customer service basics dictate listening before speaking...and not speaking while a customer is attempting to explain their needs. Fail on both accounts. Local inns and boutique hotels cater to well-to-do people from far more culture-rich environments than Yachats, so listen very carefully when somebody tells you that their $200/night lodging location has no idea that you exist when asked specifically about your type of business. Make sure...right away...that they are fully aware of who you are, where you are and what you have to offer.
