“Anniversary vacation”

My husband and I discovered this quaint cottage on the Oregon coast 7 miles south of Yachats, or. We checked in and from that point was very pleased with our cabin. Small stove and good size refrigerator. with built in freezer. The view was spectacular and the sunsets were breath taking. the beach was rocky in places but mostly sandy. At mile post 170 was a beach we discovered online called Bob's creek wayside for having agates. we were not disappointed. If you like wildlife right outside in the ocean you can see sea lions, harbor seals, and whales, turkey vultures, brown pelicans, terns. . This property is owned by one person and in Waldport has another property called The Red Door House we have not stayed there but the pictures from the website are wonderful. The cabin we stayed in is called the tide pool. I would highly recommend this oasis.

Pros:
clean; partial ocean view; kitchenette with refrigerator; microwave; coffeemaker; stove; and all needed utensils/dishes; firepit with wood; freshly painted; comfy bed; path and steps down to the ocean with benches to overlook ocean sunset; whales offshore; friendly/helpful managers; low rates; free wi-fi
Cons: older units, but still quite charming; next-door property partially obstructs the view in one direction; poor wi-fi connection at times

Room Tip: Cottage #3 size is best suited for couples only--although our granddaughter had room to sleep on rug...

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away. We absolutely loved it. It is very simple, clean, and charming. It has an awesome view of the ocean, with easy beach access. The managers are really nice and very easy to work with. We already booked our trip for next year!!!

Hopefully this place doesn't become TOO discovered because it is a little slice of heaven. Came here to get away - and it worked. Loved our cozy cabin. And it fit in our budget quite nicely. We truly appreciated our hosts (the managers). Not just because they wanted us to really enjoy our stay but also because they treated us like they wanted us there! Can't wait to bring all of our kids next summer!

It was cleanish but very out dated as far as repairs go. Bed was very soft and back felt it after the first of four nights. Would have loved to have a piece of plywood to put inbetween the mattress and boxspring, just for some firmness. We stayed in Star Fish number 2. The bathroom shower need some serious attention and repair. Full kitchen was great but had to wash dishes and glasses before using. There was plenty of clean towels and the heater worked great once I figured that that's what it was sitting in the corner. We had the best weather I have ever experinced on the Oregon Coast.

I did peek in another unit after it was being cleaned and it did look better than the one we were in. They advertise stay two nights and third is free, when we were checking she said Oh we don't do that anymore, but then went ahead and gave it two us!!

Room Tip: NOT in Star Fish number two

BcCottages, Manager at The Beachcomber Cottages, responded to this review, 1 August 2013
We here at Beachcomber Cottages want each and every guest to have the best stay possible, we take this very seriously and make it our number one goal. We however cannot solve any issues that are not brought to our attention during a guest(s) stay with us. In responding to this guests review, first bed firmness is of course dependent on personal preference, even so, we would have been willing to place the plywood under the mattress for them if it would made them more comfortable. As for the shower, we would have explained that that shower/bathroom is the only one left for us to remodel and is scheduled in October for its makeover. As for the night free, that was an offer exclusive to Tripadvisor exclusive only which would be given only at check in or on the phone when making the reservation and only when mentioned by the guest.

As for this room, it is personally my favorite small room do to its warm brown color scheme and has the natural cedar trim all around the room. Also all our rooms are close to "military clean" as I have that instilled in me from my time in the service and we take cleaning seriously.
As a rule we clean as if our own family would be staying in the unit.

Again we do our best to make your stay as relaxing as possible, but Please please if you have an issue of any sort when staying with us please bring it to our attention while you are here so we can address any concerns you may have.

My wife and I have been coming here every year for our anniversary and it's been a great tradition. We look forward to it every year. These cabins are always very clean and cozy, and you can't beat the location. Right on the beach and set back from the 101. It's a great beach for walks and exploring tide pools, and it's located right in the middle of what we think is the most beautiful stretch of the Oregon coast. The management is very good, and they have really gone the extra mile to make sure we're always comfortable. This year, the power went out due to a storm. Obviously this wasn't anything they could control, but they offered to refund our money or give us a complimentary upgrade to the Red Door, a luxury beach house in Waldport which rents for $225 a night - which is very nice by the way.

Great view, clean, comfortable, and warm. My mother got a bit sick while there and said (other than missing some of the trip) she was just as comfortable as if she had been home. The Beach is amazing even in the winter, there are rocks for kids to climb on, but lots of sand beach, tide pools, and a waterfall along the land. Easy, flat-ish grass land down to two sets of stairs one paved on not (the paved is much easier but kids don't mind it is a couple yards closer), fire pit just above the beach, benches looking over the beach and water great for a morning coffee!! BEAUTIFUL PICTURESQUE SUNRISE & SUNSET RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW!!!!

Room Tip: The tide pool has a better view than the starfish. The driftwood is better than the sand dollar for...
