This was the second time that we stayed at the Chancellor's House. Often, a second visit does not measure up to one's first impressions. I am happy to say that the Chancellor's House did not let us down. We both love staying here and look forward to coming back again. The location is in perfect proximity to quaint downtown Bedford, with its shops and restaurants only a leisurely stroll away.

The first time we stayed here several years ago, we stayed in the Parkview Room. This visit we stayed in the Daffodil Room. We enjoyed both rooms, finding them to be clean, quiet, and comfortable. The rooms, as well as the entire house, are very nicely appointed. The library is a comfortable place to sit and read or chat with other guests. You can also take advantage of the house's comfortable front porch. The breakfasts are delicious. One course on this recent visit was an absolutely delicious cantaloupe soup. Both the decor and the presentation of the breakfast was beautiful.

Lynn and Steve are exceptional hosts. Steve is the perfect cheerleader for Bedford. His enthusiasm for the town is catching. We have enjoyed his recommendations of restaurants and sites to see in the area. It is because of Chancellor's House that I want to go back to Bedford, to stroll its streets in the evening admiring its varied architecture and discovering its shops and restaurants. It's like taking a step back in time.

My wife and I had visited Bedofrd for almost 20 years when friends of ours lived there. Since they moved, we had not been back and realized Bedford would be a great getaway close to Pittsburgh. We stayed at The Chancellors House for an evening and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our room was beautifully appointed in every detail, and I cannot imagine a single item that could be improved upon. The artwork and fixtures can be appreciated on many leves. The furniture is both beutiful and comfortable, especially the bed. The owners Lynn and Steve are perfect hosts and have some great stories to share in their own right. Our fellow guests regularly stay at at B&B and said it was the best they had experienced. We are not veterans of B&B but I saw no reason not to agree that the Chancellors House must be among the very best.

Room Tip: We booked the largest room. It has an extra bed for those needing it. There is no pool or fitness center to our knowledge. We did not care anyway. Everything was perfect for us. We highly reccommend it.

It's hard to imagine a more meticulously appointed B+B. The Chancellor's House offers opulent accomodations at a reasonable price. Steve and Lynn have decorated so tastefully over the past 10 years of ownership. Everything coordinates perfectly; it's really a sight to behold.

We paid $140 for the least expensive of three guest rooms, and loved it. I particularly noticed the gold fixtures in the bathroom! The breakfast with the hosts was carefully prepared and delicious.

Our only misgivings about this stay pertained to the level of comfort and hospitality. We arrived on a Monday afternoon, late, with no other guests present. Sally, a helper, greeted us instead of the innkeepers, who didn't return until just before we returned from dinner. There were no refreshments offerred upon our arrival as we were led to believe. Soon Sally left also, but we still had access. At night, the lights in the house were turned off before 10 PM; so much for enjoying the sitting rooms. And in the morning, it was made know that Steve and Lynn had places to go as early as possible. So in addition to a home that was almost too perfect to feel relaxed in, we were left wondering if the hospitality might have been better on the weekend.

Finally, their dinner suggestion in Johnstown (Back Door Cafe) didn't wind up too well, with pretentious, unsatisfying service. So all in all, our stay could have been better.

We had a short stay last night. The room was well appointed, comfortable, and clean. The owners were very helpful -- with restaurant recommendations, driving directions, and information about the history of the area. I recommend this property.

I wanted to do something special for my wife's birthday this year, and after receiving a rave review from friends, decided to try it. I am so glad we did. Steve and Lynn are the epitome of the perfect host and hostess, graciously inviting you to enjoy their beautiful home while you explore the surrounding area. If you do not have a GPS, do not fret. Steve can give you directions to any place you would like to go. Lynn and Steve have lovingly restored this home and the furnishings and artwork are wonderful. We stayed in the Dogwood Room, which was a very large, lovely room with a beautiful bathroom. Breakfasts were excellent, and if you are lucky enough to be served the lemon ricotta pancakes, you are in for a real treat. We had a perfect 2 night stay, and highly recommend this B&B.
