We had dinner at the Bird's Nest on a Saturday night in early November. Quaint little place, great atmosphere inside and out. Sourdough bread with honey butter was a great way to start! We waited a little long for our meals, but sometimes, it's good to just sit and talk and wait a bit! Slow down, America! I had the Portobello mushroom entrée -- stuffed with spinach leaves and homemade bread crumbs -- OH MY WORD -- it was fabulous. The potatoes and green beans were the perfect go-withs. My husband had the grilled haddock, which was also quite good. His chocolate cake had peanut butter icing on it, and he left the icing, as he's not an icing fan, so be advised. My Beesting cake (yes, that's what they call it!) was interesting: a rather coarse-textured vanilla cake infused with rum, pudding in the center, fresh whipped cream, drizzled with honey (local, of course). A nice mix of flavors (with nothing left on my plate!). Good service, obviously qualified and dedicated chef. (And when I left my cell phone there by mistake and called it to try to find it, the chef/owner answered it and told me where I'd dropped it! Great small-town service!)
