The Golden Eagle Inn is beautiful and comfortable and accommodating. Its perfect. Huge floral pattern wallpaper, tall ceilings, enormous windows. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. We arrived late for our reservation and they offered to set dinner aside for us so we ordered the specials. They set us up in the dining room all by ourselves and the waiter stayed late to serve us and was so kind. They even provided breakfast for us early since we had to be back on the road. Family run. They're great to talk to. Good scotch downstairs. Beautiful native flowers in all the vases. I didn't know what we were getting into but wished we had planned to stay longer. I'm sort-of regretting writing a good review... don't want it to be impossible to get a reservation in the future...

My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Golden Eagle Inn. There Inn and staff were amazing. We enjoy a romantic dinner in their dining room and their service was above par. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Mary Jane and Tom are great hosts and we are planning a fall trip to enjoy their Inn.

Want to feel like Elizabeth Bennett or Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice? Staying at the Golden Eagle Inn evokes pastoral England’s charm, manners, and folksiness. Immediately upon entering the welcoming foyer, the decor, atmosphere and hospitality harkens back to a simpler, more fanciful time, while the gourmet menu in the dining room rivals any modern, big city eatery. The location is convenient - a lively town nestled in the hills; the host was debonair; the hostess was charming; and the professional staff are all top-notch and responsive. Our Victorian room had high ceilings, en suite bathroom and comfy bedding. In July, there were fresh flowers everywhere, obviously picked from the gardens outside. Two steps below street level is a quaint, friendly English pub. What a serendipitous lodging choice to travel back in time to a more gracious period! We’ll be back! Sheila M

Room Tip: "Mary Espy" room was street-view and surprisingly quiet. Wide staircase to 2nd floor room...

A college "girlfriends" reunion brought us to Bedford and the Golden Eagle Inn. The historic Inn is beautiful with comfortable rooms decorated in keeping with the period of the Inn. Mary Jane and Tom are excellent hosts who made us feel like family. Christian gave us lots of attention in the dining room and all of the waitresses were pleasant and helpful. Located right in downtown Bedford, this is a much better place to stay compared to the hotels just off the turnpike. The rooms are clean and the free breakfast is hot and delicious! I highly recommend the Golden Eagle Inn if you want a unique experience while traveling or as a destination.

We had a wonderful stay at The Eagle . I requested they press our sheets and for fresh flowers both requests were delivered. Our dinner in the dining room was excellent and romantic service was above par. The room was spottless and we'll appointed. Coffee and tea service outside our room was a nice surprise. We did book our reservation for next year at checkout. We may return every year.

We selected this B&B from the reviews and very competitive price per night. We arrived late unexpectedly and our hosts were nonplussed and welcomed us with courtesy and kindness. Tom helped with my bag and walked us to our room. Shortly afterwards we heard a knock on the door and a young fella offered us iced bottled water and a bag of Carmel corn. Such a nice gift. The room we scheduled was upgraded for free and it was a lovely, comfortable room. The Mary Espy room. We slept soundly and enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast, served by a lovely lady. We came here on our way from Pittsburgh to Annapolis. We take this route often and wanted to check out Bedford. Most of the shops were closed on Sunday, but our visit was worth it because of our wonderful stay at the Golden Eagle. We will definitely return for a longer stay for golf and relaxation in this beautiful town that hasn't forgotten its veterans.

B&B's aren't for everyone, but if you're looking for a quaint little place with loads of character and an amazing restaurant and pub, you won't be disappointed. Tom and Mary Jane are wonderful hosts and will do everything they can to make your stay a memorable one! The restaurant and pub fare is some of the best available! Tom keeps a nice beer selection on tap and in bottles. Dinner specials are certainly worth trying. Honestly, I think it's some of the finest dining available in the area! Charming downtown Bedford has many shops within walking distance and will fill your day quickly. Breakfast each morning was on par with the dinners...absolutely awesome! You simply can't ask for more than what the Golden Eagle offers. All this at a very fair price. Make a reservation, park the car and enjoy the weekend! Looking forward to our next visit!

Room Tip: just tell the inn keepers what you're looking for. They'll put you in the right room!
