We have been there twice in the last month and have had 2 incredible meals. There is a new chef in town, Chef D and to say he is an awesome chef is an understatement. The 2 meals we had were prime rib, excellent and baby back ribs that were so moist tender and delicious, they fell right off the bone. The service was incredible both times and the atomsphere is great. One of the staff told me that "Chef D has turned this place around" and I for one believe it. Give it a try, u won't be disappointed. Cudos to Chef D. I can't wait to go back and try something else.

My wife and I have been to the restaurant a few times more recently and it seemed as if they have finally gotten their act together after years of poor service and lousy food.

We just went there for a Friday night meal and, once again, the service and food is bad. The place was not crowded, but it took forever to get a drink order. The chef spends too much time talking to the few patrons who visit and not enough time making the food better.

Do not order steak there - even though the place has been rebranded as a steakhouse. The quality is bad and the meat has a funny propane taste. Sandwiches or pizza are your safest choice, but even these are not consistent.

The decor is beautiful - with the exception of the overdone tribute to the owner's ex-husband and 84Lumber owner Joe Hardy. It's a shame they can't get the food nor service right, as the place has very much potential.

Sandwiches are very good. Despite being called a steakhouse, the steaks are mediocre at best. It really is a nice, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a sandwich and a couple of drinks with your spouse, friends and family.

We stopped here to celebrate with a large group of about 20. We did call a few days in advance and made a reservation but for some reason we were placed in the middle of the dining room. Seating was awkward since the put together seating where the unique dining tables are uneven and didn't snug together leaving uneven serving areas.
Orders were taken promptly and the service was very good. However, when the food was delivered, somehow the kitchen made too many items and the servers were confused as food was brought to the tables and some were eating the food they ordered only to have an additional plate presented. Not sure what happened, but about half of our orders were presented twice and we wondered where all that extra food went since there was only one other party in the restaurant.
All in all, the food was good, the wait staff worked hard to please and the tab wasn't all that bad for a group of our size. Many changes were made since 84 Lumber owner Joe Hardy purchased and renovated the restaurant, but we expected a more polished presentation. The kitchen here is clearly disorganized considering the limited menu items. Steaks here (this is a steak house) were not what you would expect from a steak house. The cut were thin, lacking flavor. I recommend staying away from the steak items and order from the sandwich menu, although the "smashed potatoes" were very good.

We were ignored by the bartender for a half hour at the bar as she took a smoke break with friends. Then when we finally got menus, we waited another half hour for her to return to take our order. All the while we tried to get her attention and she would walk right past us like she had blinders on. The food is not bad, and the restaurant is newly remodeled, but smoking is allowed and it's awful (and I am not sure how they qualify as having less than 20% of their sales in food, as to allow for having smoking). Also for the twice we have gone for advertised draft specials only to be told that the bar taps are not working. And there is a large sign above the bar that states "hoagies available all day at the bar," but upon trying to order a hoagie for dinner, we were told that hoagies were only served as a late night bar special. We will not be returning.
