The people were very nice, but the food was very poor. The place was filthy. I love meatloaf, but I didn't recognize what they served as meat loaf.

This is our go-to place when we are on the road between NJ and Indiana. It is called the Midway Diner because it is half way between Allentown and Harrisburg. It has been in business for 64 years. It is not fancy but basic with homemade soups and desserts. It is next to a gas station and a hotel and services travelers and truckers. The service was excellent and the breakfast was just outstanding. The prices are ridiculously cheap and the food is tasty. It's not the fastest service, but the food was fresh and hot. Clean restrooms and just a good place to stop. On our way back, we stopped for lunch and had a really basic grilled cheese with bacon which was good and my husband had the lunch special of soup, a BLT and homemade Mandarin orange pudding all for $6 and change. Really attentive waitress. This is not a fancy restaurant, but they must be doing something right to be in business for 64 years.

We decided to take a chance on breakfast at the Midway Diner in late December when we stayed at the Comfort Inn hotel located next door. The diner is your average roadside frestaurant that caters to travelers, local patrons, and truckers. We were greeted by an older woman who may have served as a Marine drill sargent in a former life. After being firmly told that we were to wait for seating directions from her, she gave us orders on where to sit and we then had our food orders taken by a cordial server shortly after that. Having read the previous reviews, we decided to play it safe and ordered a Western omlet and French toast. The diner was fairly busy and our food came 15 - 20 minutes later. Both meals were good, but nothing outstanding, and the service was efficient. Our total bill came to a little less than $12.00 with tax. We ate at the Midway Diner and lived to tell about it.

First night in town, had dinner here. Bison burger was good. My son's chicken strips looked pretty good as did the fries. A few days later I ran over & had a great omelette. Waitresses were friendly. I'd eat here again. They have a large menu with lots of options.

What once was the best diner along US route 22 is now a place to avoid. The meals are tasteless and the portions seem sized for senior citizens. Just pass on by there are better places nearby.
