We stayed here near the end of October 2013 for 3 nights. Since we were on a smaller budget, It was a really great deal price wise.
I thought that the location was excellent. While not right in Bird-In-Hand, the motel was much closer than I thought it would be to stores, the market, outlet malls, and places to eat. When we did drive to different sites the scenery and well tended farmland in this area was wonderful to see.
I loved that the motel is in the middle of picturesque farmland. Farmland is behind the motel and across the street. It was so nice and peaceful just to sit and watch the slower paced, simpler life unobtrusively from my motel room window and balcony. Near the end of each day there were buggies going by; Amish pushing their scooters along the road; Amish boys doing their chores and tending the chickens and livestock across the street; cows going in for milking at dusk; and people at the buggy ride business next to the motel hitching up and heading home.
Just a note: at this time of year the rooster across the street started crowing sometime after 4 a.m. :o) Depending on how light you sleep, how sensitive your hearing is, and how much you like the sound of a rooster, this could be too early for a wake up call.
The motel rooms and bathrooms were very neat and clean and the comforters on the beds were very attractive in their quilt like appearance. While face soap was provided (a wonder eucalyptus scent), you need to provide your own shampoo, body soap and cream.
There were snack and pop machines available and the motel office had coffee available too. The staff are very knowledgeable about the best places to eat and a wise person would do well to heed their advice, as we belatedly found out after the first night.
The only drawback that we found was that there is a lot of traffic on the Old Philadelphia Pike running right in front of the motel. It was bad enough at night and in the early morning to keep one awake. The other sleep depriving thing in my room was that if the room(s) next door used the bathroom, the water in the pipes was loud. Just take some earplugs along.
We did find that the rooms were a bit musty when first opened. My parents complained a fair bit about their room being smelly throughout their stay. Again, it might depend on the season (we had some rain) and how sensitive your sense of smell is and / or if you have allergies. I had no trouble (surprisingly) and could put up with it as we really just slept there at night and were out most of the day and evening.
