Checked into The Blakeslee Inn tonight. Another motel disappointment, no wi-fi, no small fridge, no microwave, no ice machine (you had to ask at the front desk),no shampoo and conditioner and no hair dryer . The room was clean, everything worked, there was a coffee pot and coffee in the room and a TV. I'm not impressed! What is it with this area? This is the second motel in the Pocono area that cost over $100 per night and did not provide the basics. I've stayed in cheaper motels that provided these standard items, many had irons and ironing boards too.

Although the food might be decent, not five star by any means, the employees leave a lot to be desired. Apparently management doesn't understand that first impressions are the most important. My wife and I were planning on going to dinner at the Pub and I had called to find out if there was going to be any entertainment. The woman that answered the phone was very unprofessional with her greeting; "Blakeslee Inn what do you want", I asked if they were going to have entertainment in the Pub and her answer was, "we don't ever have entertainment" and then hung up without thanking for calloing.
This Inn and restaurant advertises to be the premier spot in the Poconos, no way. Management needs ato stop tooting their own horn about how good they are based on a wine list and learn to train their staff in four and five star hospitlaity service. When that happens then they can brag about how good they are.

My husband and I and some friends stayed there briefly for a weekend in the Poconos. Room was clean and spacious, but very simple (we had a standard room). Not a big deal for us but for others, might be better to upgrade the style a little. TV is small, outdated, etc. No iron/ironing board, no hair dryer, and you have to go to the front for shampoo, lotion etc. Only thing there was soap. Still, we got good sleep and didn't have any real complaints about the condition. Our friends however had trouble opening their doors (they literally could not get into their own room) and when they brought the issue to management attention, they just said it was a problem with all the doors and didn't try to assist. Barely any plowing was done during the storm so it was also difficult to walk back and forth from the car.

However, the restaurant disappointed us. We arrived the day after Valentine's and i called to confirm they would be open the day before as there had been a snowstorm. They said yes, but never told me they were not serving all of the 3 menus as advertised on the website. They accomodated our large group with a table, but then gave us only the Valentine's Day abbreviated menu, which is very expensive and not very diverse as far as selection. We asked why this was still being served when it was the day after, but they really did not explain and basically just said this is all the chef was making. This was disappointing since the other menus had so many choices and much more in our price range. Plus the website never advertised an abbreviated menu. So we ended up living and hitting the pizza lodge down the street for a much better time!

My recommendation would be for them to update their website daily and have more options on special occasions, especially since the restaurant is more renowned for all their other dining. Also, upgrade the rooms, invest a little money in some amenities. (New comforters, bigger TV's, irons, hair dryers, bath items) It would have made a world of a difference! Blakeslee looked cute and cozy but next time we're in the area we'll probably go to Holiday Inn express right off the turnpike....

Room Tip: My guess woudl be to try a suite! Maybe its nicer if you go Presidential

The rooms at the Blakeslee Inn are clean and simply decorated with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. The heaters in the rooms make it very hot but on a cold night you may not mind. Each room has a private entrance which is nice. The rates are very reasonable but they charge $5 for wifi in your room - a bit tacky but it's better than using the free wifi in the lobby. They really should just include it in the room fee since it's 2014. Check out is at 11 am so you don't have to rush out in the morning. There's a small coffee maker in the room with coffee packs, powdered cream and sugar and cups. The coffee was gross but it was a nice option. There's an onsite restaurant with 3 menus but sadly none offer breakfast. We didn't eat at the restaurant so I can't comment on that but it was decorated much more nicely than the rooms and the menu options seemed surprisingly good in addition to a decent beer list. This is a good place to go if you'll be at one of the nearby mountains and want to stay local; perfect for trips with kids and family/friends.

My daughter and I were there for a very brief stay - we checked in late and left early. The room was clean and very spacious, with 2 double beds. The decor and bathroom fixtures were a bit dated but well maintained, and the non-smoking room met our expectations. It was very quiet. One downside - there was no internet in the room. We got in too late to try the restaurants. With three restaurants on the premises, though, it would have been nice if one had served breakfast.

The room was clean and suited our Warrior Dash needs for the night. Needless to say we should have gone somewhere else for dinner. We chose the pub restaurant for our dining needs. The food was good but portion sizes were extremely small. Once we received our dinners the waitress was no where to be found for at least a half an hour. No one checked up on us for additional water or beverages. Once someone did come around, we asked for the dessert choices because everyone was still quite hungry. We also were given vouchers for free dessert from the front desk that we wanted to use. Badddd idea on our part. We waited an additional half an hour to see the cart and finally we had to search for someone in order to receive our desserts. We were told that the restaurant was "slammed" when there were only two other tables sitting down at that time. Our table was a party of six, and we did not ask for a whole lot. Huge disappointment!! We complained and got our desserts for free. (Which we already had coupons for anyways.) After we left, we ordered pizza at the room. Shout out to Brooklyn Bridge Pizzeria!!

Room Tip: If you have a large party choose the Presidential suite! Large living room and bedroom that could e...

Stayed at the Blakeslee inn in Blakeslee august 16-18...great location, old time motel that's been updated. The "suite" was 2 rooms converted into one room. Lots of space with a kitchenette with sink, microwave and fridge. Nothing real modern but very clean and pleasant. One thing my wife and I liked were windows that opened for fresh air, especially at night. Not many places have that anymore. The people there are friendly. There wasn't many guests this weekend so parking and noise were no problem at all. Convenient location ...just a short run to Jim Thorpe and a big flea market and Wawa on Saturday morning...would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: bring your bag chairs to sit outside.
