Spending three nights at the Springfield House was the perfect getaway while my daughter attending volleyball camp at Penn State. The house itself is charming and clean, and in a beautiful quaint little historic town. The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, and the breakfasts plentiful and delicious. The front wrap-around porch is a wonderful place to sit and chat, or read a good book and rock the hours away peacefully. By the way, the gardens in the back are also lovely, and the chocolate shop on the premises sells chocolates that are absolutely fabulous. The small museum at the end of the main road clearly teaches one about life in this village just a short 200 years ago. At the opposite end of town is Columbus Chapel and Museum, and the Military Museum. In the center of town is Dufffy's tavern, where you will find terrific food and drink. The main strip has some very unique gift shops, home goods and clothing boutiques. I absolutely enjoyed staying at Springfield House and in the town of Boalsburg, with everything I mentioned in short walking distance from the B&B. If visiing in the summer, a half hour away is Bald Eagle State Park with a beatuiful lake beach for swimming. Even closer is Whipple Damn State Park with a smaller, but lovely lake beach for swimming. And of course, Penn State is really close. Cheryl and Bill, the owners of Springfield House, are intelligent, delightful people, who know their business, and do it well! I would definitely return to Springfield House if ever in need of a B&B in this part of PA!!!!
