We stayed during a car show just a few miles away at the Fairgrounds. Great location, great room, OK breakfast (for free) - it was super busy but plenty of food out. Upgraded room was nice, tile in bathroom was neat. Only problem was the local channels were not working, but not a huge deal. Would definitely stay here again.

Since I messed up on making reservations at a hotel near Hershey - for a concert on a holiday weekend - we ended up staying here. Ride to Hershey wasn't bad, about 40 minutes. Rooms are spacious, clean, modern. Free breakfast was ok. Wish they had an outdoor pool. Indoor pool was green.

I stay here quite a bit while in Carlisle on business. The check in staff are efficient but certainly not overly outgoing.

I usually get upgraded to a suite but occasionally get a regular room. All the rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. Rooms are usually very clean with sometimes some dusting being needed in the suites near the TV area.

I usually grab a couple packages of oatmeal to take to the office but the breakfast is decent. They just upgraded to eggs and sausages instead of just microwaved sandwiches which is decent.

Rate are usually under a $100 a night. Not anything within walking distance but decent dinner options in downtown Carlisle. Very close to i81 but no truck noise in the hotel.

Room Tip: All room are huge, get a suite upgrade if possible.

We made our reservations over nine months ago and booked two rooms. When we called to verify that our rooms were connected they confirmed that they were, however upon arrival our rooms were not connected. Upon our discussing this with the front desk staff they had little to say in response. Most Marriott hotels greet the guests with a smile and try to attempt to care about the customers concerns - not here! The breakfast at the hotel was acceptable but beware of the breakfast attendant - her attitude is nasty!

The front desk clerk doesn't say much to you at checkout. We reserved two rooms 9 months early. They were suppose to be side by side. We received two rooms that were across the hall. We went to request our correct rooms and nothing was done about it. We are platinum members and didnt even recieve our correct rooms. Our rooms were not cleaned at all. The breakfast attendant was rude and was in no rush to refill the food, cups, or anything. I wouldn't reccomend this hotel AT ALL.

Finally a pet friendly hotel that doesn't rip you off. When we checked in we were told 75.00 pet fee, but when we check out they will inspect the room and if it is ok you get your 75.00 back. They did and we did, thanks!

In the course of a road trip from New England to the deepest Deep South, my traveling companion, who I call Madame Picchi for her adherence to very high standards, and I gave our usual Hilton-chain hotels a pass (except for one night at a Hampton Inn) in favorite of trying out a few Holiday Inn Express and a couple of Fairfield Inn By Marriott locations. My reviews, therefore, tend to compare these hotels with each other, and with a base-line established by their Hilton peers, in this case that would be Hampton Inns (and Suites.)
The Fairfield Inn chain, based on our two stays and interviews with desk staff and others, is the base rung in Marriott's offerings: Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn, Springhill, Courtyard, and then the Marriott hotels. Each rung offers more and costs more. The standards for the Fairfield Inns, it appears, were established to compete with Hampton Inns, Holiday Inn Express, and the like. I would say that they are comparable to the best (refurbished and remodeled) of those lodgings, at least in physical plant. We also noticed among the staff that guest relations (as measured by friendliness and eagerness to please) definitely show the Wm. Marriott touch - good training, good motivation, good results.
This Fairfield Inn is fully modern in style and facilities. Our room, a AAA-rate King, was large and fully appointed with desk, easy chair, HDTV, refrigerator, etc. The bed was comfortable and appeared clean. The bathroom was large, well-lighted, clean, and furnished with amenities, and thick-enough towels (says Madame Picchi.) The desk (says me) was also well-lighted, with convenient outlets, a good chair, and the WiFi was strong and stable. The room, in all, was top notch.
Our greeting at the desk was friendly and competent. Our keys were already made up, and all the paperwork prepared: check in was less than a minute (although an informative chat lasted somewhat longer.) I am a Priority Club member and my "preferences" had been honored in room choice and equipage.
The breakfast is in the process of being upgraded (literally - while we were there a juice machine technician was installing an upgrade) and it needs it. Their breakfast was not quite up to the standards of Hampton Inn (which is our measure), either in variety or in quality. Not bad, but not quite up there. On the other hand, the attendant was friendly and helpful and the coffee, the key to any good breakfast service, was quite good.
Madame Picchi insists I report the one failing of this property during our stay. The cold water was not only not cold, it was hot. We reported this to the desk, and were assured that action would be taken. (The issue is that the water pipes rising from the basement water heater both - hot and cold - are contained in an insulated chase. When there is not much demand for water, the hot water pipe passes its heat to the cold water pipe and that's the problem. I demonstrated to Madam P. that by running the tub cold water for 30 minutes, thereby emptying the heated cold water stack of hot water, the problem was resolved... for a while.) Unfortunately, the problem was never resolved by the hotel during our stay.
Overall, I was pleased with the room and public areas, the parking, the service, and amenities. Unfortunately, like many of these new 3-4 story hotel locations (at interstate interchanges) this hotel was not easy to get to, because of weak signage. We could see the hotel and its big electric sign, looming on the horizon, but ti took several turns down unmarked unlit roads, and some trial and error, to actually find the entrance to the property. Needs work, so it gets a deduction, for now.
