The travel coupon said this place was remodeled, a coat of paint in the hallway is not remodeling! Stained carpets, smelly room. Ice machine still broke. A lack of maintenance feel to the whole place.

We booked 3 rooms for 3 nights for my husband's Army War College graduation. I picked this hotel based upon it's reviews, most of which I read were very positive. However, we did not find this to be true for us. The rooms were dirty, the blankets were old and scratchy. There was no coffee maker in the room, as stated on both their website and in-room pamphlet. In fact, when I asked for a coffee-maker, the manager told me that I could not have one because I booked though Hotwire.com! The continental breakfast was horrible, coffee was weak (if it was there), and cereal was stale. The icemaker was also broken. Cleaning staff only spoke "Indian" and it was very hard to relay messages for clean towels, etc. Our stay here was a giant DISAPPOINTMENT!! **The one good thing this hotel had was the pool, it was clean and inviting.

Room Tip: Do not stay here, there are no best rooms

This hotel is perfect for what it is:

A $60 hotel that you stop in to grab a few hours sleep. AC is cold, rooms are no frill but very clean, beds are clean and the same type you always find in a hotel like this.

You'll be disappointed if looking for something else and otherwise, you'll be quite satisfied.

Nice and clean place, close to city center and most restaurants. Close to train station but no noise, just a few minutes walk. Breakfast is a bit expansive but there are several opprtunities near by. Rooms were clean and bathrooms too. Nice few from a room in the upper levels. Good starting point for the Hadrins Wall tour. See Tourist Office in town on market place.,

Very hard to find! The sign can be seen from the highway, but the building itself is far back. We pulled into the Howard Johnson thinking we missed it. On the far left of the Howard Johnson is the way to drive back to the Travelodge.
The place seems to be run by Indian people with a medium accent. I am not a person used to accents, so it was hard to understand them.
The whole building has an odd smell. Not a bad smell, and not a smoky smell, but an odd smell.
The free breakfast was nice. There were donuts, bagels, English muffins, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, etc. There were even toasters, and a microwave could be found down the hallway. There was an ice machine and vending machines available near the check-in area.
The room itself was large and very nice. I didn't care much for the decor, but it was OK. I got a large king bed, but there was only one nightstand near the bed. The TV had a lot of channels available, along with a stand telling you what the channels were. There was also a coffee maker, a mini-fridge, and a table with two chairs. The bathroom was nice. It had a large counter aside from the sink. There were enough towels for two people for one night. There were lamps on each side of the bed, and one lamp was bright enough to light up the whole room at night.
Overall, I liked the Travelodge. I will stay there again if I have the chance. The bad points weren't really that bad, and the good points were good enough to justify the $60 after taxes and fees.
The room wasn't a steal, but it wasn't a rip off. I would stay here again.
