“Good place to stay”
Reviewed 30 August 2010

Nice and clean place, close to city center and most restaurants. Close to train station but no noise, just a few minutes walk. Breakfast is a bit expansive but there are several opprtunities near by. Rooms were clean and bathrooms too. Nice few from a room in the upper levels. Good starting point for the Hadrins Wall tour. See Tourist Office in town on market place.,

Very hard to find! The sign can be seen from the highway, but the building itself is far back. We pulled into the Howard Johnson thinking we missed it. On the far left of the Howard Johnson is the way to drive back to the Travelodge.
The place seems to be run by Indian people with a medium accent. I am not a person used to accents, so it was hard to understand them.
The whole building has an odd smell. Not a bad smell, and not a smoky smell, but an odd smell.
The free breakfast was nice. There were donuts, bagels, English muffins, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, etc. There were even toasters, and a microwave could be found down the hallway. There was an ice machine and vending machines available near the check-in area.
The room itself was large and very nice. I didn't care much for the decor, but it was OK. I got a large king bed, but there was only one nightstand near the bed. The TV had a lot of channels available, along with a stand telling you what the channels were. There was also a coffee maker, a mini-fridge, and a table with two chairs. The bathroom was nice. It had a large counter aside from the sink. There were enough towels for two people for one night. There were lamps on each side of the bed, and one lamp was bright enough to light up the whole room at night.
Overall, I liked the Travelodge. I will stay there again if I have the chance. The bad points weren't really that bad, and the good points were good enough to justify the $60 after taxes and fees.
The room wasn't a steal, but it wasn't a rip off. I would stay here again.

This is a great road hotel located about a mile north of the PA Turnpike but off of the road behind a Howard Johnson and a local restaurant/banquet hall. The location off of the road makes the hotel look like an old conference center, but also makes the location quiet and peaceful. The complaint about the hall carpet is a past problem since the hotel was recently renovated. The hall and rooms we occupied showed signs of new carpets wallpaper and paint. Everything was clean and fresh, and the beds were comfortable.
The hotel seems to be family owned and the family lives behind the office. The check-in area and lobby are a throw-back to the 60's and 70's family hotel - long before the chains standardized construction. The point is, you can tell that they care for the building like it was their home, and the guests their friends.
My only complaint is a security issue. Our visit was obviously in the hotel's off season, and an entire wing of the hotel sat with lights off just beyond our rooms. Additionally, the entrance that we used for our rooms did not have the commonly used card readers allowing complete access to the hotel corridors. That made the women in our group just a bit uncomfortable.
All in all, for the price, the hotel was unbeatable, especially for an overnight passing through. There is a small pool that was still closed for the season, and a continental breakfast that consisting of coffee and boxed baked goods.
If you want in-room movies, shower caps, and flat screen TV's, those are available down the road for $100 more a night. If its a good night's sleep and a hot shower that you want then save your money and stay here.

Carlisle is a midpoint for our trip. Love this motel. Location is convenient and is set off the road so you won't hear the traffic. There are several restaurants close by and within walking distance. All amenities as promised. Great WiFi connection. The continental breakfast is a little weak for me.

The rooms are big and clean. Ironing board, blow dryer, internet, safe, refrig (in room). Microwave in hallway. Ice machine, vending machines available. The management is professional friendly and efficient. I had a great experience here. I would rate this 2 1/2 STARS. We paid $51 per night.

Old hotel poorly maintained. Very run down. Might've been decent sometime in the 70s. Couldn't sleep due to the loudness of the airconditioner that kept kicking on and off.
Two bed room- very roomy. Leaky faucets but a decent sized bathroom. Dresser with broken drawers, full length mirror, nightstand, desk and chair. Beds of decent comfort. Housekeeping, spotty and they never did empty the garbage.
At breakfast there was watered down orange juice and one of the mornings it had actually gone bad.
Front desk wasn't very helpful and in one interaction was actually quite rude.

We travel to Carlisle frequently and gave a try to the Travelodge for a night. We found it to be a single story budget motel both clean and comfortable. The room was large and the television channel selection was very good. The continental breakfast was adequate for a budget hotel--we expected less. Although the interior hall had a worn rug and a faint odor of curry, the room was a non-smoking choice that had no scent at all, as it should be. We were quite pleased at $65 since most surrounding hotels were at least twice the price. Next time we will probably spend a bit more, but for what we paid it was a fine place to stay.
