“Great stay during a road trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2013

This is a great hotel near Hershey, PA for a family with children when you must have 2 bedrooms. It is actually cheaper and has better availability than the Residence Inn in Hershey. My kids loved the swimming pool - I liked the jacuzzi and appreciated the extra towels. Rooms were clean and up to date. The desk staff was very courteous, helpful and friendly -- couldn't have been nicer. The laundry room was a nice touch for kids who always need something washed. Breakfast was as good as can be expected for free --plenty of hot food choices. They even had some decent late night microwave meals by little store the front desk (take it from someone who reads every ingredient).

The grounds and parking lot are clean, nice and feel safe. The hotel is close to the highway but I didn't hear any noise in the room. The only downside is that the main road that the hotel is pretty well set back from feels a bit truckstop-py, i.e. not necessarily family-friendly dining places. But if you're going to Hershey or just passing through, you're not spending time there.

I would definitely stay again.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights while visiting HersheyPark. It is less than 30 minues from the park. Very convenient. We stayed in one of there two bedroom suites.

Check in - a little slow but 5 couples showed up and were checking in just before us. Only one employee.

Hotel and grounds - very clean and well kept

Room- great! So convenient to have a room like this with kids. I traveled with my son and two sisters. Sisters shared one room and I shared with my toddler son. I could put him to bed and close the door and hang with them while my son slept. You know how amazing this is if you have a baby/toddler. It had a full kitchen. It was nice to replenish our cooler for our road trip.

Amenities- we used the pool and fitness room. Both were great.

Breakfast - it was great on Sunday morning but disappointing on Monday morning maybe weekends are better?

Would definitely stay here again and definitely at Residence Inn.

Front desk staff were friendly. Room was just okay and traditionally set up and decorated like other Residence Inn's. The unfortunate part of my trip was that apparently the previous guest or guests had been smoking in the room, so the smell had permeated the whole place. I noticed it when I first walked in, but disregarded it. The next morning I did find a lighter laying by the bed, so my suspicions were confirmed. In addition to this, the coffee maker was in terrible condition, every part of it. In fact, it looked so bad, it looked as though it had been dragged through a swamp.

I did complain at the front desk about it and they "ionized" the room while I was gone for the day and completely replaced the coffee maker which was good. Unfortunately the room still smelled of smoke.

Downstairs breakfast was good and seemed well attended to.

While visiting colleges in PA, we stayed in a two bedroom, two bath unit. Significant square footage & great value. Very nice having space to spread out. Everything seemed new and clean, and was in perfect working order. Only odd aspect was that the sink was located outside of the bathroom in both bathrooms.

Front desk clerk was efficient, friendly, thorough and quick. Ideal qualities for that position. Free breakfast on site was a pleasant surprise.

Major drawback was the highway noise. It was impossible to sleep all night with the background noise of trucks. I did not consider the hotel's proximity to the highway when booking the reservation, but instead just relied on the glowing reviews on this site. While all other praise is due this property, the highway noise should be noted.

My husband and another couple made an overnight stop on our way to New York City to break up the drive. We pulled in about 7:00 on a Wednesday. We were surprised to find that dinner was being served. On this particular day the menu was hamburgers, knockwurst, and all the fixings, salad, baked beans, potato chips, cheesecake, cookies, water, pop, wine and beer. Unbelievable! I haven't heard of this perk. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The room was very comfortable. We stayed in a room with a king size bed and a pull out sofa. The sofa was in its own room which included a kitchen. The hotel was very clean. I wished I would have brought my swim suit to go to the hot tub.

Breakfast the next day was tasty.

The value is excellent as the room cost me nothing as I used Marriott points. Dinner, hotel, and breakfast fro free!

Room Tip: Dinner is served Wed. and Thurs. between 5-7. Beer is on tap!!!

This Residence Inn was especailly nice--it felt brand new, everything was exceptionally clean. The room set up was great for us--a separate sleeping room with a queen bed and a living/kitchen area. There was a TV in the living room and another in the bedroom. Given that this hotel is not too far from Hershey, there was a glass jar of hershey kisses on the coffee table--that was a nice touch! The free breakfast was a much better quality than most of the hotels that offer a breakfast with the room. Definitely would stay there again.

Room Tip: You have your choice of a King bed in one large studio or a Queen bed in a separate bedroom.

The hotel has been renovated and everything looks good. The plush carpets, room decor and bed were all very good. It was a very good experience staying in Residence Inn at Carlisle and look forward for the next visit. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I stayed for almost a week and the social hour on Tuesday and Wednesday evening's were very good.

Room Tip: social hour on Tuesday and Wednesday evening's were very good
