Lillie's Garden Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #3 of 4 Chambersburg B&B and Inns
Reviewed 24 July 2012

Two of my cousins and I met in Chambersburg to celebrate my pending wedding; we happened to pick Chamberfest weekend, which was an added bonus. So was staying at Lillie's. What makes me give Lillie's Garden B&B a 5 rating isn't: That Lillie made the reservation process smooth and asked about special dietary needs; the wonderful setting in a neighborhood full of grand and well tended homes; her actual garden where we sat on in the afternoon enjoying the shade (and champagne toasts); or the charming decor of the rooms we had.

What pushed it up was Lillie herself. She is a most gracious hostess--truly making us feel welcome and as if we were long-term friends instead of paying guests. And yes--breakfast was terrific with home made muffins and the lightest omelets! Fresh fruit, coffee, glasses of juice...and Hibiscus flowers on the table. It was all wonderful.

Lillie's openness made it easy for us to come and go throughout the day without feeling like an interference.

Do yourself a favor and make a reservation.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful little B&B in the center of Chambersburg on Sept 1st, 2011. We stayed in the Flower Room, with it's own private bath. This house is really amazing, and is in a fantastic location if you're visiting someone at Wilson College.

This gorgeous house is located on a corner, and has private off-street parking. A walk through the cozy re-finished kitchen leads to a beautiful sweeping staircase, with an antique chandelier. From the pictures, the flower room at first would appear like too much wallpaper, but is actually quite perfect. There are huge windows with two antique side tables, and a large armoire to hang jackets and clothes.

We had a small private bath- no tub, but it was perfect for our needs. We really loved our stay the most because it was like Lillie had thought of everything. Every surface in the bathroom had glass for setting toiletries on. The big windows in our room had concealed blackout shades which was really amazing for our morning. Lillie had set out a small bag of cookies, some water, and some chocolate mints for us on one of the bedside tables.

There is a television/dvd player combo at the foot of the bed, with cable tv and a really nice selection of dvds. In the past, usually B&B's can overlook the available movies by having them be outdated, or all romance etc... but Lillie had a surprisingly impressive selection.

The BED. Oh my god. A lot of B&B's can again overlook this- it's called a BED and BREAKFAST. Lillie's bed? We slept so well, it was not only better than our own bed, the next morning we actually searched the mattress for the label so we know what to save up and buy one day.

So, what about the breakfast?

That. Woman. Can. Cook.

We started with fresh fruit, coffee, and squeezed orange juice. She had also baked a cinnamon roll coffee cake that was... I can't even describe it. It was so soft- I don't know how she did it. We couldn't stop eating it. And then, she cooked us breakfast made to order- both eggs and sausage. Amazing.

Lastly- the price. Amazing sleep, service, and food for an amazing price. Enough said. I know there are other larger B&B's in Chambersburg, but my husband and I had a wonderful time at Lillies. Thank you Lillie!
