Looking for a quiet place off the beaten track and frankly concerned about the crowds of Gettysburg. About 30 minutes away located off highway a few miles but also not too far from I-81. Probably not much going on in town though to be fair we didn't spend a lot of time investigating. We dedicated most of the day at the park, though I did see some antiquing I would liked to have stopped and check out had we more time.
Greeted by the host who escorted us upstairs to our room. The inn was very charming and the owners are proud to share it's history to those interested. Our room was nicely decorated, clean, and offered everything we needed for the night. A small community meeting room with some packaged snacks and I believe mini-fridge were offered. Although there is a small AC, we did not test it. It was cool enough for us to open the windows and run ceiling fan which was a very pleasant change for us. Not too many hotels where you can open the windows and enjoy fresh air these days, especially in July. We slept like babies.
Our large bathtub was a little tricky stepping into but a step is provided, just be careful. Also, all rooms are located on second and third floors as far as I know so plan on steps. By the way, the woodwork en route is beautiful and impressive. The tiered grounds out back are lovely with a small running brook. A great place to relax and enjoy your beverage or read.
The owners are very visible and take great pride in their home as well as your experience. I sense they will take great care in seeing to your needs where reasonable and possible. Breakfast was of quality and adequate; prepared fresh and served by both of them at the shared dining room table.

My husband and I were fortunate to stay here for 3 nights and it was a delightful wonderful experience. We were in town to attend a wedding in Gettysburg and my husband's family lives in Chambersburg. What a treat it was to stay at the Inn at Ragged Edge. We slept very well, the room was wonderful ,had everything , clean , and comfortable. The owners Lew and Fran were awesome and breakfast was a pure delight. I would highly recommend the Inn at Ragged Edge, it is relaxing and great place to stay. We hope to be back again. Thank you!

My husband and I had the opportunity to spend the night here on July 3rd and it was fantastic. The Inn was beautiful and very clean. Our room was very cozy and comfortable and after a great nights sleep the owners made an amazing breakfast. While we were only there for one night we did have a chance to check out downtown Chambersburg. Overall the town does not have much going on and the Inn is really the best part of Chambersburg, With that being said if you are traveling to Gettysburg this would be a great place to stay. It is a serene setting and the charm and comfort of this Inn offers more than any hotel you would find in Gettysburg. Even if you just want to get away for a relaxing weekend this is the place to go.

The Inn at Ragged Edge on a winding road outside of Chambersburg, PA, was a serendipitous find. An estate built for a railroad magnate in 1900, the stuccoed house of many rooms sits on beautiful acreage featuring perennial gardens, a stream, a nature trail, and comfy outdoor seating areas. Owners Lew and Fran Martin have rehabbed the once-deteriorating home into a beautiful inn, creating nine unique rooms for guests.

In addition to the hearty breakfast served by Lew (we did not see Fran on our visit), a common room on the second floor provides a fridge, microwave, Keurig, cold drinks, and snacks for guests, plus comfy furniture and a TV for those who need a little extra space. The front porch is also an excellent place to relax and enjoy the breezes.

Our room, the Garden View, was spacious and featured a couch, table (with a fresh bouquet!) and two chairs, kitchenette, king bed, and sizable bathroom with steam shower. Each room has its own special touches; read the descriptions to figure what works best for you.

The wifi connection at the house was very, very slow, which might be considered a negative -- but it just reminded us (once again) how overly dependent we are on our devices. Better to enjoy the exquisite surroundings while we could!

We have been at many, many B&B’s over the years, and this is definitely in the “special” category. Chambersburg itself doesn’t cry out as a destination to me, but I’m glad we didn’t let that deter us from checking out the Inn at Ragged Edge. Such a marvelous surprise! For us, it was a stopping point along our ride home via I-81, but the inn is quite convenient to Gettysburg and provides a lovely retreat from the sightseeing crowds.

A very good B & B in a delightful location. Spotlessly clean and well run. Plenty of good local eating places makes this an ideal stop. Although not in town is still very close to shops and local amenities.

My wife and I were rather quite pleasantly surprised by this B&B. Located a short drive from Gettysburg, it is ideally located when visiting this area of Pennsylvania. This is a rather large secluded nicely landscaped property that boasts huge, and tastefully decorated rooms that make your stay all that much more pleasant. The quiet and serene location ensures a restful and comfortable. Lew and Fran are very good hosts making you feel welcomed. Their relaxed and cheerful attitude makes it easy to enjoy their B&B. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed and more than likely you will want to return.
