Stayed at this Best Western on the way to the East coast. Did not have any knowledge of what to expect when we arrived at midnight. It was a very pleasant experience staying here. So much, that we drove an hour south of our route to stay again heading back home. Great place; very clean and professional.

This place is a dump. We checked in and were given a different rate than posted online. When pushed were told that was the 'winter rate'. Finally gave us the rate quoted online. Went to our non-smoking room. It smelled of smoke. The whole hotel smells like smoke. Our toilet was clogged/plugged and when I went to the front desk to ask for someone to come and fix it I was handed a grocery bag with a plunger in it and was told to fix it myself. Our bedspread was old, dirty and had cigarette burns in it. This in a non-smoking room. The breakfast was pathetic, with the waffle batter so watered down that it was impossible to make a half-decent waffle. This hotel was under staffed and the staff we did see were rude. We have family that were due to stay at this hotel later this month, they have cancelled that reservation and are staying elsewhere. Avoid this dump and stay somewhere else.

If you need accommodation in this area, there are better, more pleasant alternatives.

To start with a positive comment, we travel with a dog and appreciated that pets are permitted ($9 fee).

The desk staff were unhelpful and unpleasant. We had received a rate coupon at the I-81 Pennsylvania Visitor Center. The desk attendant pushed back hard when we presented it, saying it did not apply for us. The few dollars difference was really no big deal, but the rude and energetic refusal was somewhat surprising. Not what we normally experience at a hotel, since we were made to feel as if we were asking for 'something for nothing'.

We were in a non-smoking room, however the corridor outside our room had a smokey odour. Our room had some cigarette smell, but it was faint and not too bad.

The hotel invoice says "Each Best Western Hotel is independently owned and operated". One wonders how standards, particularly the more intangible ones such as friendliness,
are maintained.

We will not return, and we will use alternative accommodation in this area.

Traveled with two younger children and was a very nice place to stay. Hotel was clean, as is expected with Best Westerns. Breakfast was above average for a continental style, included waffles, bagels, cereals, juices and coffee. I would recommend this to anyone going to the Gettysburg area.

We stayed at the Best Western in Chambersburg for one night (Friday, April 3rd) because it was close to Shippensburg University where we were scheduled to attend a meeting on Saturday morning. We arrived late (after 11:30 PM) and were greeted by a friendly desk clerk. The room was very clean and all appliances were in working order (coffee pot, refrigerator, and hair dryer). The room also has an iron & ironing board which we didn't use. The continental breakfast is available from 6-9 AM and was well stocked (waffles, toast, bagels, apples, several choices of cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffe & tea). My only complaint was the very thin walls. I could not only hear every noise our neighbors made (coughing, running water, etc.) but I could actually hear their conversations through the wall. They seemed to be speaking at a normal level - not loudly at all. I was awakened at 6:50 AM to the sound of their dog barking. I also got to hear them running the shower, flushing the toilet, etc. It really seemed like we were sharing a room. The hotel was sold out the night we arrived or I would have asked to be moved to a less populated area. If you can ignore the sounds of the people next to you, I would recommend this hotel.

Continuing north on a cross country jaunt for business, we stopped here drawn by a coupon for a nearby hotel. We rejected the other hotel and being tired stopped here. Coupon rate for 2 $59.99. They quote in the ad that this is a new hotel, I do not think it is new, perhaps new management. Rooms are clean and spacious, tv, microwave, fridge, real coffee pot (lousy coffee), hair dryer, comfortable king bed (only 2 pillows). Decent bath and vanity. Also used the fitness room - treadmill, recumbent bike and stairs - all in working condition. A fan would be welcome in the fitness room. Big clean breakfast room with continental breakfast plus waffles and eggs. Free newspaper. Internet access was spotty. Pool - did not use. Very close to the interstate and did have some occasional traffic noise. After leaving we realized to the north there are better choices about 10-30 miles north, but to the south there are not.

Upon staying here at the BW in chambersburg. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was close to getting to Gettysburg. 23-24 miles give or take. The rooms however, were just plain yucky! Rugs Oh My Goodness needs some serious cleaning or replacing. As soon, as my husband and i walked toward our room. I wanted to gag.......with such cigarettes smoke and animal smells.....I understand that travelers like to take their pets with them....but come on now.....they could deodorize the place so that the smell don't become unpleasant. our room toliet backed up.....room decor was out dated. The only thing chambersburgh had going for them were the resturants.....I really liked Ryan's it was a buffet....I'm really skeptical about buffet's but this one was truly okay.....also, the waffle house was okay...Don't eat at HOSS'S as i bit down into a stick or some sort of grassy substance from the salad bar. Gettysburg, was wonderfullllllllllllllllllllllll. If you like historical sites.....this is a must see.....Please take the tour very informative. My husband did the auto tour as well as the bus tour......the bus tour really explains what happens during the 3 day battle..... I really enjoyed it Staying in gettysburg is pretty expensive.....that's why I chose to stay outside of gettysburg but let me tell you the smell......Phew!!!! Nothing but horse sh*&!!!!!!!!!!! Cow sh&^!!!!! if you get my drift.......the mountains are beautiful. Anyhow, if you stay there.......at the best western.......be aware of the awful rooms.
