“Much needed mini-vaca!”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

There's no need to travel hours away from home to consider it a vacation. My husband and I needed to get away so badly, and when the opportunity came where all three of our kids were away at camp, we jumped at the chance. Money can be an issue and for only having 2 days where we could vacation, the rates were a key factor. When I checked the website, the prices seemed to be where we needed them to be and the rooms looked absolutely comfortable.

We wanted a place that would be private and not the typical "Poconos" all-inclusive resort-type getaway and the Crescent Lodge definitely fit that description.

Our first impression was friendly staff and beautiful antiques in the lobby with a scattering of historical documents and photographs throughout. Loved it! On to the room - open the door and the fresh, clean smell of a room that has been meticulously cared for is what you find. The picture on the website was EXACTLY what we had. Everything was impeccably taken care of, from the squeaky clean Jacuzzi to the in-room coffee, mini-fridge and fireplace and the bed was oh so comfortable! Just what we needed.

Dinner in the in-house restaurant was amazing and our waitress was exceptional, as well as the complimentary breakfast. We haven't sat and enjoyed each others' company for that long in many, many years.

Thank you to everyone at the Crescent Lodge for giving us a few days of relaxation and a chance to unwind and enjoy being a couple again. This is a place that both my husband and I agreed will become a tradition in our family and we will be back!

We decided pretty last minute to head to the Poconos for a few days. We originally planned to go to the beach in Maine, but decided since we were in the midst of a heatwave, there would be too much traffic, too many lines, etc. So, we changed plans, and that turned out to be the right decision. We checked the price at another resort we have stayed at countless times in the past and, once again, the price was just out of our budget. We have stayed several times over the last few years at Crescent Lodge so we called, made a reservation and got a fantastic rate for 2 nights.

Everything went smoothly. We stayed in the Sunset 1 - clean, comfortable, fireplace (did not use) and jacuzzi. Really nice deck on the front with loungers. Again spotless. Everything you need in the room including small fridge and coffee maker.

We used the pool, which felt wonderful. It was an older cement-type pool, with a very deep end of 9'. We took advantage of the loungers by the pool and had a totally relaxed morning.

Expanded continental breakfast was available both mornings We thought the coffee was really good. There were cold cereals, all types of breads, waffles and a hot item each day (fritatta, eggs), and juices. The dining room is really lovely. We like retro things and that was the feel we got in the dining room - we loved it and lingered over coffee, which was nice for a change. We did not have dinner at the Lodge because there is a little restaurant on Rt. 715 that we love (Cook's Corner), and the Lodge was closed on Monday night.

One of the nicest things was meeting the owner's dog, Bentley. There is a picture in the lobby which tells the story of his former life on the run and how he came to live at the Lodge. We asked if Bentley was around on the second morning; he wasn't, but the owner ran over to her home to get him so that we could meet him! That was nicest thing!

So, overall, we loved it once again at Crescent Lodge. If you are looking for something really modern, maybe not the place for you. If you are looking for something totally comfortable and VERY CLEAN, a place you can get away from everything for a few days, give it a try.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the Lodge rooms a couple of times, but prefer the cottages. More romantic.

Thank you for the great review. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with, and that you enjoyed our country charm. Bently would like to say it was a pleasure to meet you :-)
The entire staff takes great pride in how the property in all aspects is maintained. We hope that will be able to try a fall visit, and experience the beautiful fall colors in the Poconos.

We just spent the past week-end in one of the cottages that has a fireplace (definitely was not needed this week-end), thankfully a well working air conditioner, a jacuzzi, living room area and a full kitchen. Although it is dated as others have mentioned, it is very clean and has charm. Although they were almost fully booked for the week-end, it was amazingly quiet and peaceful in our cottage and on the grounds. We also enjoyed sitting on our deck watching the bunny rabbits scamper by. We didn't swim but the pool looked clean and not crowded.

My husband and I loved Crescent Lodge and just returned from a much needed mini-getaway. Dinner at the lodge was delicious and the background piano music was so nice. We stayed at Birchwood 2 and it was cozy, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the wonderful pool after antiquing and shopping in surrounding areas. The owners are wonderful and staff so helpful and courteous! We will definitely be back again for another romantic get-away!

Hubby and I love to golf in Pennsylvania. We also like dabble in the casinos. Crescent Lodge is a very affordable place to do both. It is located within 30 - 40 min of many very nice golf courses and it is only 7 min from Mount Airy Lodge & Casino and Golf Course. We have stayed at Mount Airy Lodge many times but one weekend they were sold out and their operator gave us the name of Crescent Lodge as an alternative...so we tried it! Our first visit was nice. We got one of their last rooms availale in the main house. Very small with a Queen size bed on the second floor. Yes, you do feel like you are back in the 1950's but it is quaint and clean. No smell of mold or mothballs. Floral bedspreads and curtains add to the "throwback" feel but it served our purpose and when we compared thier price to the price of Mount Airy Lodge ($149 vs $350 a night), we thought we might be on to something! We had dinner in their dining room and it was EXCELLENT! They had a piano player in the dining room and it made for a very nice dinner. Their little lobby with fireplace is so comfortable...a nice place to sip an after dinner drink. Then, we were off to Mount Airy Casino and were there in LITERALLY 7 mins. Two right turns and a left and you are there. This year, for our first PA golf outing, we decided to try Crescent Lodge again but this time we rented one of their little cottages out behind their main house. We were in Crestwood Cottage which is one of their smaller ones. PERFECT!! For $179 we got two double beds (much more comfy than both of us squeezing into a Double/Queen), a sitting area with nice comfy chairs, a small dressing area with a sink and counter outside of the bathroom and then the bathroom with toilet, bathtub/shower. The best part...outside of each cottage is a beautiful deck with two chairs and two lounges and a little table...it was like having our own little apartment for two nights and when we considered the money we were saving by staying here and not Mount Airy Lodge, we were pretty happy!! We did not use the pool but it looked to be a nice size and very clean. Yes, the floral bedspreads and curtains were in the cottage also, so there is no getting away from the 1950's vibe, but the rug was clean, the beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well and the bathroom was new. We had dinner in their restaurant like our first visit and again, it was pretty awesome! Drinks at the bar were strong and tasty. That night we went to the casino at Mount Airy Lodge and the next morning played the Mount Airy Golf Course...it was like having the best of both worlds for a much reasonable price and when you are traveling every weekend to play golf in different states, this is important. :-) If you are ever up in the Mount Airy vacinity, I would recommend Crescent Lodge!

Room Tip: The cottages are not much more expensive than a standard room in the main house...I would recommend...

We were very dissatisfied with the Crescent Lodge. We had a room in the Inn. It was very, very small. We had requested a queen bed, but got a double. The lighting in the room was more than dim. I could not read or do my crossword or anything from by bed. The carpet was dirty. The towels were dingy. The plug where I connected my curling iron in the bathroom kept kicking off. There was no elevator so we had to drag our luggage up a very steep, very dingy back stairway. There were only small room air conditioners which was OK for the room, But the hallway was stifling especially when schlepping luggage up the stairway. We did eat the free breakfast and I had the smallest omelet I have ever seen in my life.

When you arrive at the Crescent Lodge, you may feel you're going back to the 1950s, but in a good way. This old-fashioned country inn has old-fashioned service, complete with the owner who apparently lives onsite, because he's there at breakfast asking you if everything is all right, and he's there at dinner making sure you're enjoying your meal. My fiance and I stayed at the inn itself. There are also cottages which appear to be charming, though we didn't get to see inside any of them. Each room is different, and ours (#3) was light and bright with pale walls and wicker furniture. This is not the kind of place with all the latest amenities -- no hair dryer or coffee maker in the rooms -- but the room was very clean and comfortable. And since breakfast is free, you won't miss the in-room coffeemaker. There's a big pool that wasn't very busy, so I was able to swim laps, and there's a wooded hiking trail on site that allowed us to get some pleasant outdoor exercise without leaving the premises. The breakfast buffet is not sumptuous, but perfectly fine. The restaurant is very nice, but somewhat expensive, so we only ate there one night. I loved the fresh hot bread -- much better than at your average restaurant -- and real whipped butter. A friend who joined us for dinner had a gluten allergy, and the kitchen was great about working with him to create a gluten-free meal. What really set this place apart was the friendly service, especially from the maids, some of whom seemed to have office jobs as well, and who were able to advise us on all sorts of things. My fiance and I were looking for a quiet, pleasant long weekend, and that's exactly what we got. If you're looking for excitement, it may not be your kind of place, although there is a casino just 15 minutes up the road. The one concession to modern technology is free Wi-Fi, which we were glad to have. We would definitely go back. We found it a romantic place for couples, but it would be a great place for families with the big pool and lots of space for kids to run and play.

Room Tip: Some of the cottages have jacuzzis in the rom. There is no jacuzzi open to all guests, so if you wa...
