Historic Doylestown, home to ceramic tile artisan Henry Chapman Mercer, best-selling novelist James Michener and other noteworthies, is a charming and pleasant little slice of early America, full of well-preserved homes, good restaurants, cute shops and even a homegrown, downtown movie theatre. The Hargrave House bed and breakfast lies in the center of town, with seven rooms in a renovated historic building and free parking in a convenient, off-street lot. The suites are spacious, spotless and comfortable, the service is friendly and accommodating, the rates are a good value. Extras included bottled water for the Keurig coffee maker, cooked-to-order breakfast and unlimited use of their big, yellow umbrellas for rainy-day urban hiking. Very peaceful and quiet.
