Tools of all types are what built America and that's what you find on display here. A room full of butter molds, another of iron stoves, blacksmith tools it just goes on room after room.. The central court has every thing from a covered wagion to a fire truck hanging from the ceiling. just amazing place.

The building is as interesting as the exhibits that it contains. The exhibits are primarily a history of crafts and early manufacturing housed in a castle-like building seven stories tall with an open atrium in the middle. We loved it. If you can't do the stairs, there is an elevator. A must see.

It is hard to characterize this museum. Everything there is pre-industrial revolution..and there is a whole lot of it. It is an interesting but somewhat overwhelming place to visit due to the sheer volume of "stuff." You leave believing that your basement and garage isn't so bad after all.

This very odd collection of 19th-century tools is ingeniously presented in such a way as to delight every age group. The sheer number of cradles, sewing machines, lamps, and pie pans, is remarkable. Although a tool museum sounds like it's designed for older male viewers, in fact, it was fascinating for my 10-yr old daughter, who is a Little House on the Prairie fan, as well as my little son.

This is one of most interesting, but strangest museums you will ever visit. It is built out of poured concrete just to hold the collection. Dr mercer collected everything that had to do with things necessary to use in earlier times and there are objects everywhere you look. At first, it is a bit overwhelming, but when you look more deeply you can see the organization of the items and appreciate that many can be seen from every angle...under, over, behind, etc. it makes you look more closely at the construction and purpose of the items. This is not to be missed.
