Owner description: Just a short drive from Philadelphia, The Pearl S. Buck House promotes the legacy of author and humanitarian, Pearl S. Buck.As you walk through her pre-1825 Pennsylvania stone farmhouse, you will learn her life history, which began in childhood as a daughter of missionary parents in China and ended as a Pulitzer and Nobel-prize winning author. One of just a few national historic landmarks that uphold a woman's legacy, the intact collection includes the typewriter she used to write The Good Earth. Serene paths lead to her gravesite. Exhibit gallery displays her numerous awards including the Nobel prize. International gift shop on location. Pair a tour with a book discussion. Annual festival of trees, writing workshops and cultural events scheduled year round.

I recently visited the Pearl S. Buck house. The tour was very informative about PSB. However, our tour guide kept interjecting information about her own adopted children and how successful they are and how she personally met with PSB and her adopted children, and how they attend the PSB House functions. I can only give a 3 stars, due to the tour guide's self promotion. I really am interested in PSB, not the tour guide. Perhaps a different tour guide, even if he or she is less knowledgeable, can render a better tour. Still, it is a great place to visit for PSB fans.

CLose to our home in pa. we found another gem pointed out to us by our relatives from out of state. The Pearl S. Buck House is a definite must see attraction especially around the Christmas Holidays.

It is both Historic and educational as well as a sight to behold.
The house and surroundings are decorated inside and out and very
interesting. They also have a small gift shop with items from other countries. We now make it a yearly event to visit this site due to its atmosphere. Enjoy.

Have visited the house and grounds several times with friends visiting from out of town and learn something new each time. Very well preserved and presented artifacts, with informative descriptions. Very helpful staff. Well maintained grounds. Go when the flowers are in bloom and allow a couple of hours.

Being in her house, walking on her grounds, seeing her gravesite on her property, listening to the docent telling of her accomplishments - all these things were magical! I read The Good Earth when I was a teen and again a few years ago - an amazing book by an amazing writer. Her good works, in addition to her writing, are inspiring. A great place to visit!

It's nice to have a great piece of American history in our own backyard. The Pearl S. Buck house is wonderfully preserved in a romantic setting.
