We stayed here overnight on our way from Silloth to Tynemouth. The service was excellent, the rooms were modern clean and comfortable, the evening meal was great with enough choices for everyone. We had an excellent breakfast the next day before setting off. There is a good selection of beers at the bar and I would certainly recommend this to anyone

Arranged a get together for my partners 50th. From day 1 of organising it they couldn't of been more helpful.
The service was excellent, everything came out organised and promptly. The food was just delicious, especially the steaks (which is hard to find).
The wine choice was also excellent, lovely beer and a very comfortable atmosphere.
I cannot wait to come again.
Thank you for making the evening so special :)

We have just come back from 2 wonderful nights at the Red Lion. The location is fantastic. We spent time at Hadrian's Wall, some of the museums, Kielder Forest and the beaches on the Northumberland coast.
The rooms, whilst not huge, are clean and fresh and have those extra touches of luxury that you wouldn't associate with a B&B. The inn allows pets and we took our dog, but there was no trace of any dog ever having been in the room it was so clean. The bed was divine - incredibly comfortable.
We didn't have dinner as we were out and about until late in the evening, but the breakfast was uh-may-zing!
Our room was above the pub so was a little noisy although the TV drowned it out, and at 11pm at kick out time it was peaceful so please don't let any worry about the potential noise put you off.
We cannot fault the inn and would definitely stay again.
Little note to the man who made the comment about the heat in the room and how he was charged extra for 'sweating the bed'. Look on the wall. You will see a rectangular metal object. This is called a radiator. If you turn the knob at the bottom, it will turn the radiator off. It's not rocket science, love.

Stayed for a couple of nights in April 2015 and had a lovely time - the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful notwithstanding we had a spaniel and an 8 year old - we were late for lunch on our arrival and all we wanted was a sandwich and they were more than happy to produce what I can only describe as one of the best sandwiches I have ever had - and this was when they were only doing Sunday roast - The location is also fabulous for exploring the local countryside and Hadrians Wall. Really lovely weekend

My husband and I spent 5 nights here in April to do some family history research and visit Roman ruins. Everything about our stay was wonderful.
The room was comfortable, the service was smooth, and the owners were helpful with advice on places to see. The wi-fi was quick and the rooms have tea, coffee and a hair dryer. The towels are lovely and fluffy. The breakfast was generous and the evening meal offered duck (a favourite of mine) - which was very good. The building is a listed building, so there are restrictions on what you can do - do take note of these when you get to your room, and if you not British you will fine the rooms smallish by Australian standards.
While there is a bus service here (683) you really need a car to get around.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the road get the sun.

We chose this hotel after extensive research (by my wife!) for a family holiday trip up to Hadrian's wall. The hotel is brilliantly located for all of the major Hadrian's wall attractions. The rooms are maintained to a very high standard (we had 3 rooms), all with modern en-suite bathrooms. The bar downstairs is very welcoming with local ales, and a nice fireplace (needed this - it was cold outside!). The restaurant is stand-out - over the course of 3 nights, we must have tried at least everything on the menu, and we all agreed that there wasn't a dish that we wouldn't have had again. It's a family run affair, and the service is excellent.

A great stay, thoroughly recommended

Our group took three rooms at the Red Lion for 1 night over Easter and we had a great stay. The room are nicely decorated to a high standard and are very clean. The bed linen is top quality and comfortable. Sitting in such a beautiful location this is a real gem.In the evening we have a very nice meal with some interesting choices and expertly cooked. The packed lunch at £10 each was bit ovepriced. Would love to return.

Room Tip: Room 1 has a bath
