My family all had day off work so we arranged a day out to the lakes and on the way we thought we would give this place a try for breakfast on the way over.
When we arrived no one was around it was a very cold room.they said on web site they opened at 10am this was 1020am the tables weren't set or cleaned we sat down and waited.
A lady shouted from the kitchen be with u in 2 ticks when she came we asked for menus.
She brought menus and said there was know breakfasts on today and no scones which only left cake so we just had tea and coffee ordered.
She brought out the tea cups they were dirty she said sorry but they had just opened and she was cleaning a messy kitchen .
She seamed all flustered a lot of banging and clashing of tea cups and saucers .
We left after our drinks
Not well run or organised won't be going back

Took the Blaydon Cycle Club up to 'The Garden Station' (we did email ahead) for a visit. I've passed that area a few times. and it's well hidden! went up the gravel track thinking we'd got lost (warning to cyclists on narrow tyres, might be best to push!) turned the corner and we were greeted by the old station platform which was as the name suggests a garden, the cafe itself is a converted station building, the ticket office screen is still there leading into the kitchen, it's tastefully restored.
We pretty much took over the whole cafe with our group, and the team managed to get out stuff out in good time despite the massive group!
I opted for cake and a soft drink, the cake was superb! a great little stop to be kept in mind for when i'm up that way. Even got a message back on twitter to say thanks for coming along. all in all. I loved it, shame it wasn't sunny! could have spent some time outside on the old station, would be rather relaxing id imagine!

We called in here whilst cycling home from Alston, what a lovely spot! The cakes were delicious, the staff very friendly and helpful and the place full of interesting photos. It was so tranquil and relaxing. We'll be back when we have more time to enjoy sitting in the garden. Thank you.

We visitors the station as we had a groupon voucher for cake coffee and sandwich, on arrival (11am) we were the first there and were told to take a seat by a lady who was busy with wedding enquiries and she shouted for service, no one came to take our order, another couple came in and sat down and after another 5 mins a girl came from the back and served the other couple before us which I wasn't amused with but we had already prepaid for the voucher so it was ok, the girl wrote sandwiches on the blackbird spelt 'sandwitches' not too impressive, our food came and it was all nice, the sandwiches and tea, tasty, however the lady who was taking those wedding enquiries then went over to another couple who came in with a dog and started to pet it and stroke it then went into the kitchen and behind the counter and didn't once wash her hands which was not a nice thought so apart from the food the visit was terrible, also you might need some wellies to walk to it as there's a very muddy track for parking.

Arrived to the smell of a transport cafe, steamed up windows and cold room. Service was slow throughout - two young girls and the air is almost 'couldn't care less' although pleasant. The phone kept ringing but was not answered once while we were there. Coffee was so weak it was tasteless. Watched as hot water from boiler was added to large bowl of soup! Brown bread was more like half and half bread. Soup was puréed sandwiches were ok. Home made cake nice but tea arrived with no tea bags in teapot! This could be a lot better than it is - tables are sloppily covered in pretty oilcloth and didn't see one table wiped after people left. The whole place looks as if it's had a quick one day makeover on a very tight budget. Won't be going back!
