“Wonderful Weekend Escape”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

The 1777 Americana Inn B & B is an oasis of beauty and peace. It served as a great rest stop on a whirlwind weekend tour of Amish Country. The proprietors could not have been nicer--suggesting a great place to eat nearby, and making sure that our room was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and far more than anticipated. We would highly recommend the 1777 Americana Inn B & B if you're looking for a great place to stay in Amish Country.

This Bed and Breakfast has the general look of a colonial-style inn, but the rooms have more electronic equipment than most modern hotel rooms. The A-C is quite adequate, and there are flat screen TVs, DVD players, as well as DVDs you can borrow, along with rapid wi-fi which is also complimentary.
My room was charming, bright and airy, with a bathroom almost as large as the bedroom. You have your choice of shower, tub bath or Jacuzzi bathing. The hosts, Denise and Bob, were very gracious and personable. Denise makes an excellent hot breakfast for your enjoyment. Bob is building a Brew Pub in the back yard with beer tastings planned. I look forward to my next stay there.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this fabulous B & B. The accomodations were comfortable and relaxing. The historic building is beautifully restored and meticulously furnished. Our room was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious. We would highly recommend the 1777 Americana Inn B & B! We will certainly return in the future!

My wife and i found this B&B wonderful. Everything was exceptional including the owners, Bob and Denise! The room was decorated so lovely...looked like something out of a magazine. Hot tub lots of use and was in a great location. We would definitely return. Hope the Brew Pub is a great success. Brian & Jan

It was a one-night stop on our way to East, but the place really surprised us. Staff very kind, breakfast is spectacular, and the place has a nice character inside and outside. Will stop there again, if I am nearby. Loved it!

We stayed in the Le Broudeur Room and loved it. The Le Brodeur had plenty of room, light and comfort. The bed was a large queen size bed, and was so comfortable it made it hard to get up in the morning. The room had modern AC and heat controls with a ceiling fan. The room was bright and fresh with a flat screen TV and a computer tablet, which was handy. The bathroom provided an overabundance of space and was fresh, clean, decorative and up-to-date. There is a jaccuzzi, which we did not use, in addition to the regular tub and shower.

The breakfasts were terrific with fresh fruits, homemade scones and muffins and a quiche dish each morning along with juices and coffees. There were drinks in a small fridge for the guests throughout the day along with small snacks and Wilbur chocolates.

The Le Broudeur faces the main street through Ephrata, so we did experience occasional noise from motorcycles and trucks in the morning. It was also neat to hear the occasional clip-clop of horses from the Amish buggies. This did not bother us, but may be a problem for a light sleeper.

We were initially concerned about the distance from Ephrata to Lancaster and other Amish areas. However, we were able to get to areas like Lancaster, Intercourse and Strasburg within an easy 15-20 minutes and to the neat little town of Lititz in only 10 minutes. There were plenty of back roads to drive through Amish Country beginning just south of Ephrata and continuing to the heart of Amish country.

The owners, Bob and Denise Hartner, were terrific hosts. They bought the B&B in March, and have been busy retaining the character of the home while putting their decorative touches on it. Denise was excited to tell us about their plans already occurring, which include retaining the character of the home while adding light and lighter colors, redoing the entry area and adding a small public brew house for sampling and preparing her husband’s own recipes. Given Denise's experience as a home-economics teacher and Bob's experience in corporate management, we believe they will be successful in making this B&B even better.

We are sometimes weary of places that receive only good reviews. The 1777 has earned these excellent reviews, and we look forward to staying again when visiting the area.

Room Tip: The Le Brodeur Room is very spacious, light and comfortable. The bathroom was very large and clean w...

This B & B is a must stay for anyone visiting in Lancaster County or surrounding area. The beautiful Inn has been lovingly restored and furnished with a blend of period pieces and modern amenities that maintain the integrity of the Inn's history and provides a comfortable stay. Bob & Denise are the consummate hosts catering to their guests needs while providing a quiet, private 'get-a-way'. The meals were excellent with yogurt, fruit and granola additions to the main entrees which were creative and very tasty. The garden was great for unwinding at the end of the day for reading, watching the birds or just enjoying the fresh air and flowers. I felt at home when I was there, a great feeling when traveling! This is on my list to return again and again!

Room Tip: Each room is different and available to view on the web site, which I encourage you to do.
