The modern traveler is accustomed to institutionalized chain hotels, with anonymous staff who change every eight hours and a cookie-cutter monotony of decor and ambiance. It is a pleasure to revisit an age when travelers depended for lodging on the personal care of resident innkeepers. It's exciting to see a modern family not only preserving 250 year old landmark, but continuing an ancient tradition of personal hospitality, and doing so to the highest standards. Our accommodations in the Sage Room were charming and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and Rebecca was very helpful in introducing us to the area and attending to our needs. We will definitely include this venue in future trips that bring us through Lancaster County.

Room Tip: Swimming pool and room service are Not Applicable The Sage Room has easy access from the parking lo...

I had booked here for one night as we were on our way from Hanover PA to Philly airport to meet some friends. I had no idea what to expect but was struck by the hospitality of the hosts and the facilities such as large residents' lounge, a wide range of DVDs for use in the rooms (FOC) and the wonderfuly comfortable room (Crimson Dove). Breakfast was geat and it was like staying with friends. Eprata itself is a great little town with at least one great restaurant (Lily's on Main) and the preserved old religious Community site Ephrata Cloister which is within walking distance from the Inn

My husband and I stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary. We were definitely not disappointed! We stayed in the Red Room. It was so cozy and quiet. We got a great night sleep and we were treated to a wonderful and delicious breakfast. I would love to come back here for every anniversary, and just to get away once in a while. It's close enough to tourist spots, yet far enough away to relax and have a quiet stay. The staff is very warm and friendly, and will do everything they can to make your stay special! I will recommend this Inn to everyone I know.

Rebecca, David and their maid Judy all made us feel really welcome and comfortable there.

Rebecca and David created an environment that is both rich in character and convenience.

Rebecca is the cooking is both delicious and adventurous. I've never had pesto with eggs for breakfast before. But I sure will again. They are also willing to accomodate our requests just eggs and bacon instead of the dish of the day.

Lastly, they are really plugged into the location and are a great source of information in planning activities in the area.

We will be back there and highly recommend the property to anyone visiting the Lancaster County area.

This B&B is beautiful...wonderfully decorated and very homey. We stayed in the Red Room, and Rebecca, one of the owners, gave us the history of the house which was fascinating. Our bed was very comfortable and had a nice view of the back garden. The rooms are large and the decorations are beautiful. The only downside was that the Jacuzzi in the tub wasn't working. Stephanie makes the most incredible breakfasts that will not disappoint. We enjoyed talking with Rebecca and Stephanie at breakfast. We enjoyed our stay, and we will hopefully be able to visit again.

The Historic Smithton Inn is absolutely wonderful and will NOT disappoint!! It is beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, owned and operated by an adorably sweet, efficient and helpful couple and the breakfasts are out-of-this-world! The Gallagher's go that extra mile to make for certain your every need is conveniently met, above and beyond what is considered the "norm". It is located in the heart of Amish Country for those interested in pursing that captivating culture yet is still close to outlets, malls, amazing restaurants and plenty of modern activities and attractions for either an entire family, couple or single. I would highly recommend it to EVERYone!! It will become a favorite location you will truly come to love and will return to many times over, year after year!! I give it two (2) thumbs up!!

We attended my nephew's HS graduation and we wanted to stay somewhere unique where we could bring our dog along. Rebecca and crew were wonderful hosts as we moved through a hectic weekend. We stayed in the Tailor's cottage and it was fabulous. It had a ton of room for the family to hang out and the dog to stay out of trouble:) The food was crazy good, the cottage was clean and the bed was cozy. I would recommend staying at the Historic Smithon Inn for anyone interested in staying at a great B & B.
