“Good no nonsense accommodation.”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

I have stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Willmington many times now and never had an issue.

The rooms are big and comfortable, as is the bed. I have always had a "kitchen" in the room which has proven useful even during short stays. My son stayed for three weeks and its ideal in the larger ground floor rooms for longer visits.

The breakfast is good as is the "happy hour" service on various evenings with free food and drink!

The gym and washing facilities are good, never had chance to take a dip in the pool.

Staff are great - no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: Ground floor...

Hi g6ued,

Thank you for the awesome recommendation! We appreciate your continued loyalty to our brand and our hotel. The pool is open for the summer so make sure the next time you are in town you take that dip!

Thank You,
Steve

Stayed here for a memorial day soccer tournament. This hotel was "chosen" for us by the tournament housing service, so we had no say in the decision to stay here. The hotel was fine and they allow dogs, which was a plus for us. Check in was smooth. We didn't get the bigger rooms like the rest of our team - I'm assuming because we brought our dog. Prior to our stay, I had contacted the hotel 3 separate times to ensure we could have a later checkout time on Sunday - due to the tournament schedule and us having the dog with us. Each time I called, I was assured they could accomodate the request for a 2:00 pm checkout, although each time they said my previous requests hadn't been noted on in our reservation. When Sunday morning came around, we decided to check once again with the front desk to make sure they knew we wouldn't be checking out until 2:00. They said they don't do late checkouts and we had to be out by noon. We explained our previous calls to the hotel and how we were assured that our request would be honored. They basically told us we were out of luck. It took 3 calls to the front desk and us threatening to call elsewhere within the company before we were finally allowed to check out at 2:00. Not the best customer service. Another weird thing was they don't do housekeeping service on the weekends. We checked in on a Friday and we had no housekeeping for our entire stay. No cleaning, no clean sheets, no clean towels. Weird. It was also really expensive - $180/night. Not sure if it was because of Memorial Day or because our reservations were made through a tournament housing service, but it was way overpriced.

Hi anoynous,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at our Staybridge. I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that you were able to bring your dog along with your family during your tournament. Please accept my apologies for the confusion regarding your request for a late checkout, we always do our best to accommodate travel needs of our guests, so this was disappointing to hear. I know that it can be frustrating when your hotel is chosen for you, but there is no room size distinction made for travelers with pets, you had a choice to pay for two separate room types through your housing service which is why you had a different room type than some of our other tournament guests. Also please accept our apologies for not receiving information upon arrival regarding our housekeeping service. As an extended stay hotel we provide a daily light touch service which includes making the beds, taking out the trash and replenishing towels if they are left on the floor. Every seven nights we perform a full clean service for those staying for a week or more. We really appreciate your business and we hope that we see you again the next time you are in the area!

Thank You,
Steve

I can say the folks are nice, the rooms are comfy, breakfast better than other staybridge locations and the socials are nice.
The hotel location made it easy to do day trips all the way to Gettysburg and other locations closer. We stayed 7 nights and really did find it a good home away from home. There are a good number of restaurants close and the location is very quiet.
This location is a bit older than the other staybridge locations I have a stayed at and that means a bit of updating is in order such as bathroom cabinets ( need refinishing).
These are items you notice after being in a room for 7 nights. Our only bad experience was the soccer mom, dads and bad mannered kids that were in the hotel for the weekend. No one controlled them, not the hotel and surely not the parents. No mention of upgrade at check in or level of membership, but that is the case with most IHG properties. Frequent stayers are no longer a priority, just as long a the properties are making money. Overall, a nice hotel.

Room Tip: The higher the better, less noise.

Hi RobertSummers,

Thank you for choosing to stay at our Staybridge for your extended stay! Our team is thrilled to hear that you found our hotel to be a great “home away from home”! Our food and beverage team was also thrilled to hear that you found our food service experience to be excellent as well. Please accept my apologies for not being recognized as an IHG Rewards member, we hold the loyalty of our members in very high regard, so this was certainly disappointing to hear. I will make sure that we make this up to you. I also understand that in a hotel as busy as our Staybridge, that some of the holiday weekend teams can be a bit overwhelming which is why to try to only take a single team during these huge tournaments. Thank you for taking the time to write a great review of our hotel, it means a lot to our team especially coming from a Top Contributor such as yourself. We hope to see you again the next time you are in the area!

Thank You,
Steve

This hotel was really nice. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. We had quite a few rooms reserved and they tried to put most of us together (much as they could). The Brandywine Room was ready and equipped as requested. Thank you, Steve, for all your help. The rooms were clean. The breakfast food was hot and available on time. Great location. Within walking distance of Costco, Target, grocery stores, other shopping. Just down the street from Terrain, a neat garden shop with a gift shop and nice café. Now, if they only had an indoor pool.

We stayed here for 3 nights for my sons graduation. Clean beautiful suites, great breakfast, and during the week they have happy hour where they serve complimentary beer and wine along with some food. A light dinner, we had chicken, beef and fish quesadillas, and salad. Other weeks they have wings. Staff very friendly, Robin and Nicholas very helpful. We will return. Shopping in area excellent.

Stayed there last week for 3 nights and had a great time. Got there about 3 hours before check in time and they allowed us to check in early which was awesome! Didn't get a chance to enjoy there evening social as we had plans for every night we were there but was sorry we missed it. Nice big area for breakfast and great selections. Something different every day and everything was nice and hot. This was my first time in a Staybridge Suite but I will be sure to check them out for my next trip.

The Staybridge Suites is a clean, well appointed property located in the Brandywine Valley only minutes from Longwood Gardens and a short drive to two Dupont estates. From the moment we entered we were treated like we were special, old friends. At check-in we were greeted by Nick who was so friendly and personable that we felt more like we were staying with family than at a hotel. Later when we came back, Donna was equally friendly, personable and accommodating. That kind of treatment makes people feel welcome and happy. The room was so clean and well, nicely furnished and just the right size. The price was great and overall, it was a great experience. I highly recommend staying here on every level, especially if you're visiting Longwood Gardens, which is incredibly beautiful.
