Robertshaw Country House Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 2 Greensburg B&B and Inns
Reviewed 6 November 2013

We just got home from a weekend at the Robertshaw Inn. What a wonderful place! We havent stopped talking about what a great time we had. It exceeded all our expectations and I couldnt have asked for more! This weekend was what my husband and I truly needed. We got to slow down and really focus on each other. This weekend renewed and refreshed our relationship, our spirit and our soul. The amenities were impressive, the rooms are immaculate, the food was delicious, and the hospitality was above and beyond. Thank you Sr Renata and all of St Emmas for a beautiful weekend. The Robertshaw is a true gem. We cant wait to come "home" to the Robertshaw again soon.

What a delight!! It is like "heaven on earth". The Benedictine sisters are warm and welcoming, the beds comfortable and the decor and landscape are appealing to the eye. Whether you are sipping tea in the library or strolling the grounds, you will feel at home.
I found the B and B, while surfing the intranet for monastries in the area, I was planning my trip to the Greensburg area. I was looking forward to visiting my daughter at Seton Hill University.
I highly recommend this treasure, to one and all. You will be pleasantly surprised!

Room Tip: I enjoyed Emma room, cozy and comfortable.

This could be called an all-inclusive bed & breakfast – food, faith, and family. No other place can compare to the ambiance, serenity, comfort, quality, beauty, cleanliness nor value. Upon arrival “Welcome Home” is the greeting, not just words but the true sentiment of the words coupled with the biggest bear hug imaginable. This is a place filled with love, faith and graciousness. Each individual you meet is of the same warmth, sincerity and inspiration. Over 45 years of traveling, we have stayed in places referenced as “5 star”; “Gold Crown”; AAA standard; 1-10 ratings, etc. – there is no place in those scoring systems for the Robertshaw Country House. It is a 10 star, triple gold crown, 20 rating yet “AAA” hasn’t created a level for this gorgeous place. The breakfast offerings are of top shelf quality with great attention to detail; each morning is a new greeting of dining colors on the best quality dishes with beautiful cloth napkins and delicious choices of coffees and teas available all day. Snacks are available as is the use of the kitchen in addition to the entire historic, well-kept house and grounds. This property should be used as the standard for which others should strive. We have stayed in various levels of quality yet nothing can compare to this experience – this inn is just that an “EXPERIENCE”. This experience will remain in our memories for frequent daydream visitations. We started planning are return visit before we left; we didn’t want to leave (we stayed until after 2pm just visiting with the nuns). IF you need to get reconnect with yourself, your spouse or God this is the place to do it. The entire property gives a feeling of spirituality, calm and relaxation. If you just want a great place to stay while visiting the many Winerys, fishing in the close by Twin Lakes, or visit one of the excellent fairs around the area then this is the place. Although this is a Catholic operated business there is NO religious demands yet you are welcome to use the chapels or join the Nuns for any of their services. We are not Catholic however we greatly enjoyed the 7AM mass – we highly recommend joining the Nuns for services (educational, comforting and informative). We promise you will discover the most humorous, intelligent and tech savy Nuns. We hope to see you there; we will see Sr. Renata, Mother Mary Anne and the others again soon. Smoke free, child free, animal free facility. The fitness center is a set of trails covering much of the 100+ acres which include various scenes and scenery. Soft white cotton robes and slippers are provided; the softest bath matts & towels are supplied as well as the best soaps and scented bath salts. The entire house is filled with changing scents - a joy and pleasure to walk thru and enjoy. The house is filled with antiques, beautiful decorations and loving pictures. The library is filled with excellent books-many over 100 yrs old. Fireplaces throughout the house. The patio in the garden displays a calm fountain with serene views of the property.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

This B&B is a beautifully restored 1930's mansion run by Benedictine Nuns. It is situated near the city of Greensburg on 100 acres of sweetly serene pastoral land. It is a Great vacation spot handy to the city of Greensburg with its awesome restaurants as well as Pittsburgh-a wonderful city to tour. As well, an easy day trip to Fallingwater and , Kentucky Knob, both designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright. Much to see in the Pa Alleghenies region, yet come back to the most serene and welcoming lodging I have ever experienced! The European style breakfasts are wonderful, and the fridge is always stocked with snacks and drinks. The most unique feature of this home is the seven headed shower-a feature unheard of in the '30's! Try it, you'll love it!

Room Tip: The garden room includes the unique shower.
