Owner description: Teddy Roosevelt declared that this Italian Renaissance-style building was “the handsomest building I ever saw”. Indeed, the State Capitol, with its vaulted dome and grand staircase and the murals and painted floors inside, is thing to behold.

“Unexpectedly interesting”

We stopped here as an after thought after planning our trip down south and we were so surprised at the beauty of this building! The tour guide was very well informed and answered all of our questions. The architecture, artwork and craftsmanship were spectacular. Highly recommended even if you do not live in PA.

45 minute tour by an excellent guide, in no time we learned everything we ever wanted to know about this stunning building. Interesting factoids, a smattering of history and views of wonderful craftsmanship were highlights of our tour.

The PA State Capiotl is a wonderful experience. Great day for family and why not have lunch too! You can pay a visit to your district representative.

“Nice architecture”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

My family walked up to the capitol while staying in Harrisburg. The building itself was pretty impressive. We were told by our hotel that you could go inside for a tour, but it was closed due to a wedding rehearsal inside. Perhaps give a call to make sure they are open before you go down.

a very nice capitol building. Well worth the trip to visit. I grew up here and remember it as a kid, but re-visiting as an adult was rewarding.
