Talk about plunking down a minor league baseball stadium, mini golf and a train ride and other attractions on a small island in the middle of a river! At the very least, I would call it unique! Played some mini golf and took the train ride around the island. Fun! Didn't go to the baseball game even though there was one going on. Had thought about going for a swim on the "beach" until I saw it with my own 2 eyes. Don't do it. The beach was made of cement and the water, well, let's just say if you wanted to take an acid bath then by all means. Disappointed in the Pride of the Susquehanna riverboat ride which "supposedly" departs from here. Read my other review of that.

My two boys (14 and 10) and I had a great time at City Island in Harrisburg! We spent one week in the Hershey/Harrisburg area and visited City Island three times. Of course, you have to enjoy baseball, batting cages, and putt putt golf if you want to enjoy this island. We took in a Harrisburg Senators baseball game and hit several rounds in the batting cages and a couple rounds of putt putt golf. As far as putt putt golf goes, it's a very good and challenging course!!!

If you're in Harrisburg and enjoy sports, then a ballgame, batting cages, and putt putt golf is a must at City Island.

Boring! a very slow train, mini gold, an old gross bath house, the tiniest arcade I've ever seen, and $3 to park there. We were very bored there. The best part about city island is leaving and going back across the beautiful susquehanna river

City Island is a great place for a walk with the family and/or the family dog. The island is home to both the Harirsburg Senators baseball team and City Islanders soccer team. There is a paved road for driving and walking that loops around the standiums. There is also a walking path that takes you along the river. The Pride of The Susquehanna river boat also leaves from City Island. Also on the island are a mini-golf course, batting cages and a small arcade. My husband and I often go to dinner in Harrisburg and then take a walk across the bridge that connects the city to the island. It is nice to be able to play some mini-golf or just go for a quiet walk together. I would definitely recommend visiting City Island if you are looking for something to do near the City of Harrisburg.

As a side note, if you are going to City Island not to attend a baseball or soccer game, I would try to avoice nights when these games are going on. You will have to pay for parking if there is a game and it is extremely crowded.

My husband and I visited Harrisburg a few years ago and were walking distance to the city island park. It is Harrisburg's Fairmount Park or Central Park except is has miniature golf, boat rentals, beach, batting cages, trails, and a minor league baseball team. Easily a day full of fun.
