“Beautiful, Clean City”
Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

We come to Harrisburg annually to visit family. This city is clean and people are very friendly. We love to walk along the Susquehanna River on the beautiful walkways. The walk over the footbridge to City Island is picturesque. City Island itself has so much to offer with the Harrisburg Senators AA baseball team and The City Islanders soccer team. The Pride of the Susquehanna River boat is so peaceful. We love the mini golf fun at Water Golf which is beautifully maintained and so reasonably priced. A little train ride around city island is lots of fun for adults and kids. Restaurant row on 2nd street offers over 25 top restaurants with an array of choices. The state Capitol building is beautiful and it's just fun to walk in this beautiful and clean downtown area.

“Average”
Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

Nothing very impressive in the Downtown area, like all large towns (I don't really consider it a city) it has it's restaurants, bars, litter, and fun. If you want good food stay away from second street, all of the gems are tucked away on the side streets. Second street is for those seeking a drink. There are a few quite spots on the perimeter of the downtown area. Parking meters, lots, or garages, you should find it too difficult to find parking. If you do, park on City Island and call the Pedal Cab Service if you don't feel like walking.
Not really for families; try the Whitaker Center, State Museum, City Island*, or State Capital for family friendly fun.

“Easy Manuvering”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

The roads are smooth and well maintained. The road signs are displayed at a distance so you have time to merge to the correct lane. There is no litter.

“2nd Street - Dirty, Smelly and not for families”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

The restaurant row is 2nd street and it is not family friendly. There are mostly bars and not many sit down eateries that are not part of a bar. The streets are smelly and there seemed to be a lot of people out drinking and lingering without a purpose. Our family left and drove toward Hershey for dinner.

“Fun downtown area to explore”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

I was in Harrisburg for an academic conference. Between sessions, I enjoyed exploring the downtown area. I was surprised by the variety of coffee shops and restaurants. For bibliophiles, Midtown Scholar is a must-visit bookstore.
