“Perfect wedding day”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

Months of planning and attention to detail by the professional staff at Settlers Inn led to the perfect wedding day for my daughter. From the first meeting to final calls and last minute confirmations/changes, everything came together for a beautiful wedding day, even the weather!. The venue was outside under a tent, ceremony beside the river, cocktails in the garden and yard. Food - fantastic! Not the usual wedding fare- fresh local produce, delicious meats and fish as entree choices, and a dessert selection in place of a cake (bride's choice). The wedding party and family members were able to stay at the Inn and enjoy convenience and comfort. We can't say enough!

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so be aware that even the first floor rooms have 4 steps, not for handicapped...

Thank you, thank you! It was such a treat to have the wedding at the Settlers Inn. Both families were a delight to work with. We wish you all the best and are eager to see the pictures!

If you like luxury and clean, this is for you.It is a little expensive ,but that keeps the" rif raf "out. The decor is expensive, the beds are super comfortable, service is the best. These people try hard to make everyone happy. Small but cozy bar. Nice dining area. Great for a date night or for a night over. I give these folks a A+

I had forgotten how nice the Settlers Inn was since my last stay a few years ago. It's a beautiful Inn, with beautiful grounds and good food. The decor is up to date and comfortable. It's a perfect get away spot for couples with quiet seating options in the back garden or inside near the fire place and quaint bar.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view to the back garden are best

We stayed here for our 1st year anniversary and had a blast. When you think of the Poconos you think cheesy but not here, classy and classic all the way. The dinner is wonderful and all locally sourced and the breakfast is just as good and included with the price of the room.

We got a queen suite and it had a private jacuzzi which was lovely after a long bike ride. They have bikes available for you to use with tips for a bike ride around the area. There are some great rides and hikes near by and in 3 days we only scratched the surface.

Big tip here is to make dinner reservations since there's not much good eating in the area.

Room Tip: look for the queen quite options

Have stayed here numerous times over the last ten years and they are consistently great. Only negatives, put a full length mirror in bathroom and instructions on setting wall unit heat/ ac. The food is outstanding and changes with the seasons. They accommodate special requests.

I am very pleased to write this review as this little charming spot deserves high praise. My wife and were visiting our child at sleep away camp which is located in Hancock, NY. Money was not necessarily an issue, however we wanted value as well as creature comforts and style. We checked out a neighboring high end spa hotel nearby in Hawley-that had a five star rating-which we felt was bland by comparison. Although obviously a more refined hotel, the vibe was LOW and lacked warmth.

We were up at camp for visiting day and then returning later to the hotel, to then have to return again to her camp the following day to pick her up and take her home was what was happening here. Hancock NY,btw if one is not familiar is an extremely rural, almost red neck environs with a lack of respectable accommodations in which to satisfy travelers who seek a particular level of comfort during their stay whether it be short or long term. In our case, the stay was very short term as our daughters camp was located one hour away from Hawley, PA, and although we were definitely not thrilled about having to drive an hour after spending a grueling hot day. We actually scored the only avail room (busy season)-Anyway, attractive and tidy looking shaker-esque looking arts and crafts hotel with not expensive but very attractive unique quality furnishings and lighting throughout. property is very pretty with peaceful coy pond and paths leading to gorgeous obviously very well attended blooming chef;s garden with abundant flora and inviting sitting areas throughout. Path leads to unique cottage gift shop where unique and tasteful well priced gift items are sold. Local crafts, candles, chimes and artwork.
Arriving at about 10PM there were very few people around , let alone even awake. We were greeted by a knowledgeable and very friendly woman who gave us our key and showed us around. She also happened to be the barmaid and fixed us up with some nice wine that we drank at the attractive dimly lit cozy bar. We sat for about an hour chatting away. The wine selection was very good. Another night owl couple sat nearby drinking mojitos and playing chess. The lobby is very good looking with stonework and heavy wooden beams. One can see outside to the front of the house which is a covered porch with comfy seating. They seemed to have a nice selection of bikes there as well, but unfortunately we could not take advantage of. Upstairs to our large pleasant room that unfortunately had tow double bed so we slept apart. Again, furnishings very nice. Comfortable beds. Quality linens. Firm pillows. High end bath products (numerous) and abundance of towels. No tacky reminders about saving water and reusing the towels. There was also a tasteful little cheese board laid out with a complimentary small wedge of creamy delicious cheese and a box carr's crackers for a little snack, which we thought was a very nice touch. We enjoyed as we had brought our wine upstairs. Anyway, we slept restfully and woke early as we had to get on the road. We had a nice breakfast outside on the verandah looking out to the garden and we enjoyed a very unique delicious breakfast -SEE PICTURE. The service was very pleasant and enjoyable. Friendly and knowledge and obviously well trained. Very nice experience all in all. Recommend highly.
ONE CRITICISM: The gal as the bar who served our drinks was also cleaning up while we sat at the bar. She sprayed the tables (5 ft from where we were sitting) with a very NOXIOUS cleaning agent that filled the air and took away from our nice experience-such that we left the bar to retire early. Just saying...

This was our first trip to the Poconos. We came for a wedding and Settlers Inn was one of three properties that were suggested to make our reservations. We are SO glad we did! This small hotel staff makes you feel like family. Everyone was so nice and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. We stayed two nights and ate 3 meals there. The food is top notch...you must eat here while you stay! The bartender was super friendly and fun to talk to and if we ever make it back to Hawley, we'll be sure to stay there again!

Room Tip: There's no elevator, so if you have a lot of luggage, ask for a room on the 1st or second floor.
