I traveled with my husband to Alvin's Cabins this past January for 3 nights. The outside area of the cabins are quaint and seemed to be well kept. The main cabins are a bit close to the road so it can be a bit noisy, especially for your pets. Yes, one cabin is set up to allow you to bring a pet which is nice but the cars going by may cause them to bark alot, especially at night.
Where to begin, well the cabin on the inside was ok but is in need of a remodel. The furniture is old, dirty and in disrepair as well as the flooring. I really didn't even want to sit on the furniture so I stuck to an old rocker for the few days we were there. The kitchen is not fully stocked as noted on their web site. It lacks some essentials and the items provided were difficult to work with and missed matched. Bring what you need if you stay here since only the minimum is provided . There isn't a toaster. wine glasses or a wine/bottle opener so if you would be looking for these items bring them. Our fire extinguisher was even missing from the bracket. The bathroom was ok but no outlet for a hair dryer which you must bring yourself. Few outlets were found in the cabin making it very difficult to dry your hair. The bathroom mirror was set up so high I couln't see myself in it. Linens were provided only once and they were sparse and poor quality. No bath mat either so we were forced to buy towels. Bring your own soap since whats provided only lasts one shower. No extras here folks. The bedding was ok but the mattress is old and hard to sleep on, my hubby resorted to the dog sofa.
The cabin was warm but the heater, oh that heater made loud train like whistling noises all night long when it turned on so sleep was at a minimum. Oh and the mouse. My husband noted it running from the heater to the couch and I thought he was joking, No joke, I watched it all weekend running back and forth from the heater to the dog sofa.
The cabin features a fire place which was nice and cozy. The location is close to camelback, so thats a plus.
It is not cheap to stay here and we paid a premium price. The cabins would be terrific if a remodel was in order, maybe someday, but for now I'll look for other accomodations.
