Although pricey, definitely worth the extra expense. Wonderful staff, beautiful and comfortable beds. Very convenient shuttle bus. Spa is always terrific

My family just returned from a three-night stay at The Hotel Hershey and I would have to say that its standards fall far below the $500 per night price we paid.
Upon approach the beautiful hotel on the hill is quite breathtaking and opulent. The well manicured lawns and lovely flower beds just add to the character and beauty of the property. My family arrived around 1:00 pm, well aware of the 4:00 pm check-in time; therefore we did expect a wait. The receptionist took my husband’s cell number and said she would call when our room was ready. During this time we walked around the hotel checking out the different open seating spaces, indoor pool area, fitness center, outdoor pool and club house as well as the gift shop and restaurants. All the areas looked clean and well-maintained. Around 3:00 pm my husband checked back with the desk before we went to grab a bite to eat at The Fountain Café, our room still was not ready (understandably, since we still had an hour before check-in). I found the food at The Fountain Café to be quite delicious. We all shared the Bruschetta (excellent) and both my husband and I had the Cobb salad while my son enjoyed the peanut butter and jelly sandwich with chips. At 4:00 pm we went back to the lobby and found that there had been a shift changed and the young lady my husband was dealing with was gone for the day. It was officially check-in time and our room had not even been touched by housekeeping. This is not something you would expect at a hotel of this caliber. At 4:45 pm we finally check into the room.
Our room was small, dark and offered limited space for clothes storage. The bathroom was updated but very tiny with no room for personal products. The room did provide the guest with very comfortable bath robes, a small refrigerator, flat screen television, the standard hair dryer, iron, and coffee products as well as very nice comforter for the bed. The bed itself lacked the comfort I would expect at a hotel of this price. Both my husband and I woke each morning with back pain. For the price I was not impressed with the size, use of space or cleanliness of the room.
Housekeeping was extremely rude and unprofessional. Several times as I was waiting for the elevator I overheard the housekeeping staff complaining about their job, the guests as well as upper management. I was unimpressed with the daily cleaning of the room. The floor was never vacuumed during our stay and the one day our shower was not properly cleaned.
The Spa experience was wonderful and the staff was outstanding. The fitness center was well equipped but the staff did not bother to clean machines after individual uses nor did they keep up on filling the water decanter for the guests.
Please understand that this is an old hotel, so elevator service is extremely slow and when the hotel is packed expect a very long wait.
The outdoor pool area is outstanding; however, it is a very far walk from the hotel itself. The pool has a zero depth entry, great for families with small children, and many water spouts for kids to play. There are two big water slides for individuals over 48 inches in height and different areas where kids can enjoy soaking themselves under waterfalls. There are lockers, clean restroom facilities and a walk up food counter where you can purchase food and beverages. We rented a cabana for our day at the pool and for $200 I was disappointed with the service as well as the set up. My main complaint with the cabana was the fact that the music for the pool area was piped through speakers that sat on both sides of each cabana. Now the cabana is equipped with a flat screen television, however, it was virtually impossible to hear because of the blaring music. The funny thing was that when you were in the pool you couldn’t even hear the music. We asked the staff several times to turn the music down, but our request went on deaf ears. We received poor service from the staff and several times our drink orders never even arrived. It is always nice to spend a little extra money for a cabana, and with the extra money you expect to receive a little extra service, but with a young and inexperienced staff don’t expect it at the Hotel Hershey. We ate lunch and dinner at the pool and found that the boneless chicken wings were the only edible item that we ordered. Most of the food tasted as if it had been sitting out in the sun.
Expect high prices in the restaurants, the gift shop and at the spa. It cost $14 for a carafe filled with milk to be delivered to our room. Except for the concierge (who was wonderful during our stay), don’t expect the staff to go out of their way to make your time enjoyable. Most are rude and unprofessional. Expect a long wait for the shuttle, much longer then the fifteen minutes they tell you at the desk. Don’t arrive too early, as your room may not be ready. Don’t expect a lavish, clean, spacious, well laid out, bright and cheerful room even at $500 a night. Expect a lot of outside steps and steep inclines, which can be very difficult for older visitors. Don’t expect good food or service at the outdoor pool.
Do expect a beautiful hotel in appearance, with lovely moldings and grounds that are well-maintained. Expect a wonderful pool area for the children, a lovely ice skating rink that is open 6:00pm to 9:00pm every night and several other outdoor areas for families to enjoy. Take advantage of the free driver service that the hotel offers, but doesn’t tell you about.
Do yourself a favor and stay at the hotel down the street for a ¼ of the price and come up to the hotel to sit on the balconies and enjoy the view. You can even park in the parking lot and use the free shuttle to Hershey Park. Although the grounds are gorgeous and the hotel is beautiful from the outside I have to give it a 3 star because of bad customer service, below standard rooms, and high prices that gouge families coming to enjoy their stay at “The Sweetest Place on Earth”.

My husband and I just returned from a brief stay (4 days and 3 nights) at this beautiful hotel. Spectacular landscaping, excellent service as soon as you drive up to enter the hotel. We were a little taken back on how small the room was when we entered it but.... what mattered was the cleanliness of the place, free wifi, accessories for using your ipod, flat screen tv mounted on the wall, dvd player. Turn-down service was excellent - room was nice and cozy when we returned for the evening. Huge outside pool, jacuzzi, a place to order food. The veranda was awesome - huge firepit which lit up at night. We hung out there and ordered drinks and dessert, chatted with other guests. Friday night jazz entertainment was planned for outside but it rained so they moved it to the bar/lounge. It was very nice!
Want to mention Kyle L. Pritchett, Concierge, he helped resolve a dinner reservation issue we had at the Circular Dining Room. Appreciated his help because dinner was worth it! Our stay was a pleasure and we plan to return.

Clean, great service. A little pricey but worth every penny. The rooms were great staff was wonderful.Only down side outdoor pool bathrooms were a mess. The Cabanas at the pool are worth getting, to have a place to relax, chairs at pool side are limited. Cabanas at the park are a must. You get a bag, hershey park towels and cups for everyone, bottled water and a fridge, soda, waitress service and a bathroom and shower for cabana guests only and unlimited access to the lazy river all day no line.

Our family (two daughters, husbands, and 5 grandchildren under 6 years old) rented a four room Woodside cottage. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed and the configuration is perfect for large families. Each room has its own bathroom, bedroom, and private porch, but all connect to a Great Room with a table of 8, a fireplace, large screen V, a small refrigerator, a large porch with lots of rocking chairs, and microwave. We loved it! There is a new water park and an outdoor year-round skating rink right near the cottages. We used room service for dinners, but have a great breakfast buffet in the Circular Dining Room. There is lots to do with kids--Hersey Park, Chocolate World, Hersey Trolley tours, etc. I can't think of a better place to bring a large family (or a small one for that matter). The staff is there to please and they do it extremely well. We saw lots of people without children who seemed to be having a great time, as well.
