Hershey Gardens is a 23 acre landscaped location where there are thousands of flowers plants and trees perfectly planted in landscape. Because we were staying at the Hershey Lodge we received free tickets to tour the Hershey Gardens and in October when many of the plants are starting hibernation there was still much to see and many pictures to take. Had many pre-Halloween demonstrations and set ups to view. It was very interesting and was well worth the time

Went on a whim while visiting Hershey for the day. Beautiful gardens.
While it was sort of off season, there was still a lot to see.
Many different roses still in bloom, a lot of various trees and other flowers and shrubs and all you would expect to see. Great layout and they give you a map. It is very easy to wonder around and get lost in there but always check your map to find where you would like to go next.
in the Spring they have 40,000 Tulips. They said to call ahead for when they are in peak bloom. We will definitely be there.

The butterfly garden was great. As long as their is enough room in the garden, they let you stay as long as you like (I have been to others where it is timed for 10 or 15 mins). You are also allowed to bring in tripods to take great pictures. I saw a few bee hives in the distance - so bring your epipen if you're allergic! It was nice to know they use natural pollination in their gardens.
Downsides: We could have purchased a type of bundle package that included the garden while we were at the Hershey Chocolate park, but it was too late. Ask about packages where ever you go in Hershey because they are not readily advertised! Also, even though we had to pay full price, there was a whole section of garden missing for construction.

Every year our local high school marching participates in the Atlantic coast championship. Our family goes to Hershey and makes a weekend of it. This was my pick as for what to do and this particular year the event was on Halloween. My husband and I loved the beautiful landscape. They also had what must of been hundreds of pumpkins craved and as it got dark they lit them and kids trick or treated. I had to drag my husband into this at first and by the end of spending almost 5 hours I couldn't get him out of there. So very surprisingly delightful!

Although not as extensive as some botanical gardens that I have visited, the gardens are beautiful. We were there in mid-October and were surprised to find the roses still in bloom. There were plantings of brightly colored fall mums that really brightened the landscape. Many pumpkins and gourds turned into fall displays. Lots of photo opportunites.
