Although this is a historic hotel with character, some improvements could be made to increase guest comfort without jeprodizing the integrity of the charm. we stayed two nights on the 3rd floor and every spring in our mattress was poking in our backs. Even looking at the bed you can see the mattress dip in the center. The window a/c unit worked off and on, cooled well at first but during the night it just recirculated air. the water in the shower kept changing temperature on its own, from freeze you out cold to burning hot. room was very quiet, the street was very busy because the fair was in town and we didnt hear any of it upstairs. 2Nd floor has a little balcony where you can sit and smoke, we liked that a lot. The doors use actual keys instead of cards, we didn't feel like security was an issue at all like some of the other reviews stated...they were deadbolts . we ate downstairs once, food was very good, got our order wrong and brought us the correct one right away.

I headed into the Wayne Hotel to buy some take out beers. We had had a bad experience at the Wayne before but decided it would do to nip in and get take out. I am 24 and was with my mum and step dad who are both in their late 40s. We were 'greeted' by a blonde middle age woman who immediately demanded ID which we didnt find unreasonable. She then said she couldnt serve my step dad because he didnt have his passport and his driving license wasn't good enough. He is almost 50!!! The man sitting at the bar laughed at how pathetic the bar maid was being and inquired as to why he had not been asked for ID? The other barmaids cowered, obviously embarrassed by the ridiculousness of the woman! She then agreed to serve us after he left but in SINGLES and we know for a fact you sell 6 packs!! We left in the end, mind blown by the stupidity. My mum and step dad would have eaten here for the duration of the stay had they not experienced this! I believe you would appreciate this being drawn to your attention as this lady is loosing you a lot of business! My mum and stepdad had had a lovely drink in the Wayne the night before served by a different staff member! The lady who served us was short, blonde and mid to late 40s if this is helpful!

The Hotel Wayne rigidly complies with the spirit, intent and letter of the Pennsylvania liquor laws and will not serve underage drinkers and has strict standards to comply with in establishing legal age. If we feel that a member of a party is underage, we will not serve them.
In this case, we had strong reason to believe that there was an underage person in this party.

After passing the hotel wayne numerous times throughout our stay in Honesdale, we decided it would be an ideal place to stop for drinks or to purchase some carry out, however, as soon as we approached the bar our opinion of what we assumed to be a nice place changed. We received no greeting from any of the staff and had to stand at the bar waiting to be served whilst, who i assume was the manager, stood behind the bar doing nothing before slowly making her way over to us. We asked politely if we could purchase some carry out beers, only for her to demand I.D. from us all, obviously this is expected when buying alcohol but the lack of manners and friendliness from someone meant to be front of house is disgraceful. The lady serving us, who was small with short blonde hair, took each of our passports and spent an awful long time inspecting them before turning to my father, who is 57 years old, and demanding his passport before she would serve anyone. Unfortunately, my father does not often require identification often considering it is, or I would have thought it is blindingly obvious that he is not under twenty one years old. The only words uttered by the waitress at this point was 'i need I.D. from everyone'. Every single person in the party, even my 47 year old mum, had provided identification and my father produced his driving licence as a form of ID as he did not have anything else with him. The waitress then laughed and said 'i can't accept this', at this point it was blindingly obvious that she did not want to serve us at all and i can't help but wonder if a 57 year old man without foreign accent came into the bar would she be expecting him to carry his passport with him for a drink? The service in the Hotel Wayne is atrocious, and this incident cost the hotel wayne $50 which we went on to spend in the Limerick just down the road. I would most certainly advise anyone staying in the area to save yourself the trouble of dealing with uncooperative staff in the Hotel Wayne and just to head straight down to one of the many places in town where the staff are more than welcoming to the tourists that help keep their businesses going.

This review makes no sense at all other than directing people to a competitive establishment. One major inconsistency is that she claims she stayed there at the end of the review but only states that she stopped by for a drink.

We ate supper in the restaurant today. We won't be returning. The wait staff spends more time talking to each other than helping the patrons. We had to sit through supper and listen to how our waiter's wife was puking all night due to food poisoning. All while we were eating supper. We had to ask for menus and condiments.

The food was okay.

We are sorry that this was the guest's perceived experience. Our staff is very attentive and genuinely concerned about every guest who visits. Our other reviews show this clearly.

First of all I just want to say this is an historic hotel so don't come here expecting the Hilton or Holiday Inn or any other chain hotel. We come here to visit family and the hotel has a nice friendly family feel to it. This is our second stay at this hotel and it holds up to our first stay here. The only issue I would say is that if you can't climb stairs there is no elevator.

I stayed at the Hotel Wayne recently for a full week on a business trip.
The hotel is much improved from what the reviews from two years ago seem to reflect. My understanding is that the bar and restaurant were significantly upgraded to provide a fine dining experience.
I enjoyed a couple of great dinners in the restaurant. The bartender is very sharp, and the wine list is a good one. Prices are very fair. The filet was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten in a restaurant.
The Hotel is an old building with lots of charm. That's not for every traveler, but as a business traveler it's a nice change of pace from chain hotels. The place was dead quiet at night, and I never heard noise from the bar area or anywhere else. When you add in the reasonable price, the Hotel Wayne stacks up as a tremendous travel value.

This was the second time that we stayed at Hotel Wayne, and our sojourn there was as pleasant and satisfying as the first experience. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the room was clean and cheerful, and we were most comfortable. What was most outstanding was the restaurant located right in the hotel. The menu was extensive, and the food was delicious. We recommend this facility without any reservation.
