Attraction details
Owner description: Natural Splendor along the Swatara.Like many caverns in the Mid-Atlantic states, Indian Echo Caverns is a limestone cave. Cut through Beekmantown limestone, which is over 440 million years old, they were formed through the erosive properties of water. As time progressed, geological forces led to an "uplift" of the surrounding limestone, eventually allowing more and more water to flow through the formation. As the water flowed over the limestone, it began to create small crevices, these small crevices led to larger ones, and eventually, over a series of millions of years, it created the caverns as they are today. The temperature inside the caverns is 52 degrees year around.

“Great Tour, Educational”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

Finally after all these years we stopped and took the tour. I thought we did this years ago but the wife says no. We had our grand kids on vacation and they loved the tour. Be ready to climb down and then up again a whole lot of stairs. The kids were amazed at the depth we were at and that we had gone under the big house that was on the grounds. The tour guide was very informative and funny. It was a very pleasant place to be being that it was very hot out this day. They have a nicely furnished gift shop with something for everyone. Check out the caverns and the gift shop you won't be disappointed.

“Easy cave tour”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

You'll need to be able to go down and back up some 85 stairs outside the cave entrance, but once inside it's an easy tour through spacious areas that are level and easy to traverse. The guide (Justine) had a nice narrative to go with the walk. There's a small petting zoo onsite with a collection of friendly goats and chickens. This was a nice start to a low-key day in the Hershey area.

“Great for a class trip or family stop”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

I have been here twice for class trips and have enjoyed both immensely. The caverns are awesome, the tour guides informed and humorous, and the gift shop a good one. There is also a small petting zoo and a picnic area. This a great stop whether you take a classroom, a family or just go as a couple. I think I would have even enjoyed it going myself. A great stop on the way to Hershey.

“Neat experience”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

What a great tour! Our tour guide, Bill, did a wonderful job. He was very knowledgeable and funny. My kids were especially amazed that we were under a house and parking lot! The caverns themselves are beautiful and well worth a visit. The admission price is reasonable. There is a small play area, farm animal area, and gift shop on site as well. If you are in the area, Indian Echo Caverns is definitely worth a stop.

“Great tour and cool caverns”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We stopped here when we were leaving Hershey and it was a cool cavern to see! Our tour guide (Justine) was super nice and made the tour fun. The caverns are really cool and our 5 year old loved it.

It gets a little chilly so bring a sweatshirt. Definitely worth a stop!
