Villa Noche, spectacular both “noche” and “dia”, overlooks San Juan del Sur and the Pacific with a 270 degree vista encompassing town, harbor, the mountains of distant Costa Rica, the wide open sea and sunsets, dramatic and varied beyond description. Attended by a friendly, hardworking, yet unobtrusive staff, it is heavenly.
Guests enjoy wonderful breakfasts (our favorite was a combo of Nicaraguan style eggs and gallo, fruit, sometimes augmented by delicious banana pancakes). We arranged for additional lunches and dinners too as we never wanted to leave Villa Noche for long! Prepared by Claudia, chicken and beef dishes were lovely but the fresh seafood, depending on the fresh local market availability was extraordinary. Snapper, lobster, dorado and mahi–mahi all made there star appearances. Nothing can beat Claudia’s freshly prepared ceviche.
We were a family group of three grown children, my husband and I, and a very close friend, Ellen who is always game for a Weaver family adventure. We couldn’t have been a more content group at Villa Noche. Accommodations are lovely with the master bedroom enjoying the same 270-degree views of the first floor. Two other two bedrooms have queen-sized beds and en suite bathrooms. There is one large room that made up a fourth bedroom with a queen size blow-up bed. (If we were to have one little, tiny complaint, this room would be a good space for twin beds, because the boys had to switch off from the blow up bed to various couches on the porch out doors each night.)
Travis, the owner of Villa Noche was tremendously helpful in planning our trip to Nicaragua, airport transfers, stocking the frig, advice on sights. We took him up on his offer of House Manager, Memo, to drive us instead of renting a car and we were so happy we did. Memo is a great driver, everyone knows him and so it is a lot of fun to explore with him. He took us to the beaches, surfing, to the beautiful colonial town of Granada, and back and forth to town. Claudia is a delightful and cheerful soul who took care of our appetites and the needs of New Yorkers who were in need of relaxation. Jose, the right-hand-man was eager to please and was always waiting for us with a smile to open the gate and welcome back to our Nicaraguan palace.
It’s hard for me to give Villa Noche such a glowing review in fear that when we want to return the house will be booked all the time!
