THis was our first time to Nica, so didnt have a ton of stellar expectations on places. We opted out of staying in hostels for the $35-ish per night private rooms and glad we did, as pretty much everywhere we stayed was above our expectation. SDJS is by far the most touristy, so theres a big gap between nice and not so nice places. Pitahaya is actually attached to a nice Cafe (Cafe Barrio) with a nice courtyard shared with the hotel rooms so it all had to maintain a good look/feel, and is ran with a legit office, whom was readily available to assist us with services and advice/directions throughout the day and night. There is also security guarding the hotel and cafe entrance all night, so very safe.
Our room had A/C, a fan, nice bathroom and clean bed which was pretty comfortable. Definitely worth the $$ and would stay here again anytime, probably the nicer area of the city for sure. The gentlemen i was emailing about the room was actually working the desk when we got there, instantly recognized our names and had everything ready for us without a wait - turnkey.
