La Terraza Condominiums
Reviewed 7 February 2014

I highly recommend staying at La Terraza! very clean, great location, helpful and friendly staff and a nice kitchen to use. A friend of mine had recommended staying here from her previous stay, and I was so glad that I did. There is free water refills which is helpful and the hostel is just up the road from the food market for cheap, local, fresh food.

Room Tip: I had the room facing the water which made for a lovely view!

I love La Terraza! Not only does it have the best view - especially from the third floor balcony, but the management is great. They are always going above and beyond the call of duty to answer questions, help with booking excursions make sure your stay is comfortable. Great hammock on the balcony. Right in town with close access to restaurants, beach and bars.

Room Tip: Third floor has the best view! I love the balcony.

We really recommend this place! A very nice balcony with a hammock and great view. During our time there the room next to us had some problems with the toilet (leak). Although this affected us we got compensated for this in a very good way!

This is the best place ever. It feels like home. Everyone is friendly, the rooms are incredibly secure. There is a rooftop terrace to watch sunsets over the bay. Its affordable, private bathrooms, and an upscale shared living room/kitchen that three rooms share. Its incredible. Its beautiful, upscale, cool, private but social. We met some of the best people there. Great wifi. I could live here!!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the second and third floors, both are equally amazing. The other guests let us see thei...

We stayed 7 nights in a private room w bath, it was great. The shared kithen & living room was with only 2 other rooms so it wasn't ever an issue. The WiFi was great, worked better on the 2nd floor than 3rd though, we stayed 2 nights on 2nd floor and 5 on the 3rd. They have a nice roof top deck good for sunsets. I wish they had hot water though....the rooms can get hot but other than that I was happy for the price!

We extended our stay in San Juan del Sur because of our experience with this lodging, which is the only place we could find at a reasonable price point that offered nice common spaces for each apartment, fully equipped kitchen(even a blender for guayaba pina smoothies in the morning), extremely clean, nice balcony with hammock, very personable and helpful hosts, and some separation of space with the bedrooms, which has become important when travelling with teenagers! Price point was less than Casa Oro, but a bit more than some of the other hostels, but well worth it for the amenities, privacy, and location.

Prior comments about noise are true, but this is the norm in Central America, and Mexico. I am an early riser, so the 6 a.m. church bells did not bother me(I am already enjoying the roosters and parrots by this point).

Regarding AC, we never felt it was necessary. We had just come out of two weeks working and camping in the jungle on a finca, so perhaps our perspective was skewed. The ceiling fans were more than adequate.

Room Tip: If you are needing quiet, the lower apartment with the bedroom facing the courtyard/roof, versus the...

As our reservation for a double bed room ensuite with Hostelworld did not work out, we got the apartment for the same price which was very huge and comfortable. Everything is in good shape, lovely interior. The kitchen is fully equipped and the living area invites to cook together and have a nice evening. However, ask in advance if the air conditioning is included in your price as we had to pay this extra and no one told us beforehand. La Terraza is only 3minutes walk from the wonderful bay and all restaurants, shops and an Internet Cafe are nearby, just across the road. Staff is friendly and helpful. Arrange your tours with the hostel Casa Oro which is just a minute away from La Terazza.
