It was our first time in Nicaragua, we were exploring SJDS as a posible retirement location. As such, we decided to stay with Steve and Yaz because their website explained that they were American expats who retired to SJDS. We thought it would be the perfect way to learn about the area instead of staying at a tourist hotel. BOY was that a great decision! Their home is spectacular, the garden is the best in all SJDS, the view is BREATHTAKING, the room was luxurious, the staff friendly,The home is located within walking distance to town, but a taxi ride is easy and under $2.00, no need to rent a car, but most of all, the hosts became dear friends. We didnt feel like paying guests, we felt like old friends. They showed us around, introduced us to the community and the way of life there (they even threw me an impromptu birthday party when they heard it was my birthday!).
We will be moving to SJDS one day, as we have fallen in love with the area, and we look forward to becoming part of the community. What a wonderful way to vacation, we are thrilled at our decision to stay with Steve and Yaz at Las Palmas!
