“Great location; great staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2012

I stayed at Maracuya for a weekend for a friend's birthday. We were a group of 6 and the staff went out of their way to make sure we all felt comfortable and cared for. The owner and the staff gave great recommendations to beaches and restaurants. They went out of their way to help us get to the beaches we wanted to go to and do the activities we wanted to do. We were looking for something that wasn't right in the main area but was close and we were happy with the location. It's an easy walk to the beach and the main strip of restaurants. The views are great from the balcony and the top level rooms. The breakfast was good with extras that you can pay for. The wi-fi is only available in the dining area and the lobby. The rooms were cleanI definitely would recommend this to friends.

After looking at TripAdvisor for a great, yet economically place to stay, Hotel Maracuyá was a clear winner. I traveled with a group of 6 people and when we arrived, the staff was very helpful from figuring out the room situation to recommending a place for dinner. Both owners are very nice and helped with anything we needed including beach shuttles and boat rides. And the majority of the staff spoke English!

The rooms were clean and cute and the breakfast was a true breakfast. And it was delicious! The view of San Juan made it taste even better.

I highly recommend Hotel Maracuyá if you are looking for a clean, economical and close to the beach spot.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms have a great view from the balcony. Downstairs there are hammocks and a garden t...

We stayed for a few days, so we were treated to a comfortably sized room for $25 a night, which is a very good price for San Juan for two people. It is a short walk to the beach and other restaurants, but at the same time has the seclusion of a residential neighborhood.

The owner is very customer service oriented and will do his best to make your stay enjoyable. Laundry service is reasonably priced, with an extremely fast turnaround.

The only downside is that since it is a brick and cement building, wifi is only available in the lobby and on the roof.

Nevertheless, the roof is a beautiful place to chill out and have a view of the town. Breakfast is good too, and you can purchase reasonably priced extras like fruit dishes when they are available. Plus, they have someone on site 24/7

Anything I needed, from surf travel to where the best food in town can be found, this lovely family and it's staff (which I feel are my family now) are there for you! The immense dedication to their guests was overwhelming and yet they knew very well that you are on vacation and have utmost respect for your privacy. I ended up staying for nearly a month and can say nothing short of amazing. When I wished to talk sports or politics or books or whatever, the owner Andres always had the time and patience to put up not only with my Tona filled rants...but to engage as well. If you are not looking to be stuck in the middle of party central with constant drug dealers and thieves waiting to pester you right outside your door, one word Maracuya! Just remember that the jefa's name is Amanda! Andrew- San Francisco

Hotel Maracuya is such a great place to stay in San Juan Del Sur! The location is ideal- close to center of town and up on the hill which makes for WONDERFUL sunset views! We had a private room which was a good deal ($15/night/person). The room was clean and the staff was exceptional. I would recommend this B&B to any traveler looking for a quieter and nice place to stay!

I stumbled on this hotel is SJDS while staying dwntown, and LOVED it! I stayed almost a month while going to Spanish school.
The hotel( BnB) is located on a hillside overlooking the main road to the Texaco station, and has fantastic views of the town, hillsides, and the ocean. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, with bathrooms, and are available with and without a/c. TVs with cable are also included.
The breakfast is served daily on the rooftop terrace, and is either "Como Nica" or american style. Either comes with juice and hot coffee.
Prices are amazing, from anywhere from $13 up, depending on size of room and whether or not you choose A/C. Lovely rooms, fresh breezes, GREAT staff, highly recommend it!
I loved sitting on the terrace nightly, watching the sunset and the flocks of parrots. The view is absolutely amazing, and location is very close and convenient to beach, town, bars, stores, all the local hangouts. You won't be disapointed!

Room Tip: The upstairs room w/o A/C on the patio is lovely... the rooms downbelow on the lower level are quiet...
