We stayed two nights at Milena's guest house.
Milena is one of the best hosts I have ever met! Milena speaks great English and Dutch, she's so special and you should really sit with her and talk with this wonderful woman.
The rooms are nice. You get warm blankets for the cold nights.
You can spend your time downstairs, use the computer \ wi-fi.

Milena cooked us the best food for dinner, everything was handmade and fresh from her beautiful garden. The breakfast was also good. You should definitely try her handmade jams!
Milena recommend us to go to the waterfall canyon and it was beautiful.
for those who don't have much time in Bulgaria and travel by foot I recommend to hire Milena as your guide. Milena took us with her car to all of the highlight around.I trully

I stayed in a room on the top level, with mountain views. There were actually two bedrooms that shared a large bathroom, but, as the hotel was not full, one room was locked and I had the bathroom and other room. I had a large bed and a balcony. The room had a clock radio and a tv. I spent 17 nights in Bulgaria, and the bathroom was the largest I had during my stay. The bathroom was cleaned daily.

Breakfast and packed lunches are also available for purchase. I ordered lunches for both hiking and a long bus trip.

Laundry is also available. This is hard to find in Bulgaria, and after hiking, it is much needed.

The proprietor will also provide transportation to hiking trail heads, which may save you 30 minutes of walking in town.

The hotel is tricky to find from the bus station. There is a sign hanging off a building on the main pedestrian street that says "Hostel -->" I found that many locales did not know where it was when I asked for directions. It is only a block off the main pedestrian area, very convenient, once found.

A desktop computer is available for checking email.

I can't speak highly enough of Malina- and her excellent cooking! We stayed in one of the apartments, which was very spacious and comfortable. One thing to know is while the kitchenette had a fridge, toaster, microwave, it doesn't have a hot plate or much other kitchen equipment.

But truly, don't bother cooking as Malina is happy to prepare amazing 3 course meals for a reasonable price. I was especially impressed as I have a really challenging special diet to cater for, and she completely nailed it. Lots of lovely fresh food from her garden.

Malina also speaks excellent English and knows a lot about the area which she is happy to share as well as advising on things to do.

I loved this place! Nothing was too much trouble for Milena and she looked after me very well. The food was amazing and you can book an evening meal too. It was all traditional Bulgarian food, some of it made from what she had collected herself from the forest. Just my kind of thing! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

EZ walk from the bus drop off in west Smolyan. Just head towards town and look for the sign 'Pension Tourist information' and turn right at the next street. Managed by a lady who has been in the tourist industry for over 25 years. Price is very good value. Hot water for showers. The all natural food is excellent also. One of the few places where you don't need to know Bulgarian. User friendly for people over 30. Free use of internet. Anything needed? Just ask the manager and she tries very hard to help.
