“Choose GhibellinaTours and Giacomo!”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

We took a tour last year, arranged by our travel agent, with Ghibellina Tours and Giacomo. We were staying in Florence and wanted to spend a day in Tuscany. Giacomo arrived on time in his late model Mercedes van. I quickly noticed that Giacomo was a very polite gentleman. We had chosen a wine tour to Montepulciano. We visited two wineries, and stopped in the small town of Pienza. Giacomo was great fun to be with. We had lunch with him and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had free time in Pienza and at the wineries. While riding in the car Giacomo weaves interesting historical tidbits into the tour. Giacomo’s English is excellent and he shares his knowledge and love of Tuscany and Italy. He is an interesting and intelligent young man- be sure to ask him about his winter travels and where he learned to speak English.

This year we booked Giacomo directly for 3 days: Day 1 to pick us up in Florence, do a tour and then drop us off at our hotel in Tuscany, Day 2- do a full day tour, and on Day 3 a ride to the train station. We went back and forth in a number of emails during which Giacomo gave us options and suggestions for our itinerary, and even helped me select the town to stay at in the Chianti region. We decided on a tour of an olive mill (it was fascinating), San Gimignano, Montereggioni, and Sienna. Giacomo chose amazing restaurants for our lunches- some of the best on our trip. He is very flexible and will give you options during your day as he looks to make you happy on your tour. For instance, he gave us a choice of a leisurely lunch on our own, or a quick Panini lunch and then a stop at an unplanned winery to find some wine I was asking about. You cannot go wrong planning a day or more with Giacomo. I cannot wait for my next visit to Florence and Tuscany!!

“Fantastic way to see the coutryside of Tuscany”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

We were in Florence for a few days and decided we wanted to see some of the beautiful Tuscan countryside so had researched our options prior to our trip. After many emails back and forth with Giacomo we had our day planned and what a day it was. Giacomo picked us up at our hotel and from the minute we meet he was friendly and informative and it is obvious that he is passionate about this region. He is so knowledgeable and made the day a fantastic experience. We visited two small picturesque towns, a winery and olive oil farm and a had a superb lunch at a farmhouse.

“Bravo, Giacomo, bravo!!”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

We had the pleasure to work with Giacomo at Ghibellina Tours, to plan a very special day in Tuscany in June 2013. His love for his country shone through as he helped us custom select every venue that day, in a well-edited tour of the Montalcino and Pienza areas.

The winery was a highlight... like visiting family friends with a vineyard and award-winning wines, the right amount of background and history of their vineyard plus a beautiful setting. The children enjoyed wandering in the vineyard with the border collie and had their own table to draw pictures while we were sampling the wines.

The choice for lunch was great, accommodating a table for twelve with the advance planning from Giacomo in a small, quaint restaurant with a wonderful view. Afterwards we had time to wander around the town, to enjoy the shops and galleries. The perfect timing gave the day a feeling of easy casualness and the views attracted our attention.

Giacomo's choice for dinner was maybe our favorite part of the day. In a small, beautiful vineyard, we were served a homecooked pasta dinner in the owner's home, with pairings of wines, cheese, olives and honey and finished with the best tiramisu ever. This was a lovely conclusion to a day of sights.

Giacomo's attention to detail made the logistics and transportation work very well for our family, 12 people across three generations. His contacts were all courteous, friendly and thoughtful, the venues were charming and the comfortable air-conditioned bus let all family members enjoy the trip. I highly recommend his work, and we all have a treasured memory of our family trip and the beauty and warmth of Tuscany. Thank you, Giacomo!

“Great intro to Tuscan life”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

We didn't want to miss out on experiencing the little villages and countryside after attending a friend's wedding in the south of Tuscany, and Giacomo was the perfect solution.

As a guide who genuinely loves the region, a tour with Giacomo in Tuscany makes you want to stay there, and skip the main cities - rich of culture though they are!

If you can't/don't want to drive, but want to experience the whole of the Italian culture & lifestyle in the laid back Tuscan hills, then Giacomo is a great pick!

“Grazie mille, Giacomo!”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

Our group of 3 toured for a couple of days with Giacomo patiently taking us to remote, wonderful Tuscan sites. This included a private wine tasting at a winery in Montalcino, San Polino, that was straight out of a movie set yet not scripted. He was fun, engaging, helpful, and insured that we had a great time, seeing Italy thru the eyes of someone born in the area and not thru a mass tourist bus. I meant to leave this review a long time ago and realized that forgot to do it. So, Giacomo, mi dispiace! I hope to tour with him again the future and not wait so long, as this was in July 2010. I am glad to see that others are finding him thru Trip Advisor and also having wonderful experiences with him.
