I cannot say enough about our fantastic stay at Casa Pietraia! From the moment we arrived, our hosts Emma, Giancarlo, and Matteo welcomed us so graciously and helped us throughout the week planning day trips. The views from the villa are outstanding; the beauty cannot possibly be captured in a picture. We loved spending time at their infinity pool on our down days; surrounded by olive groves, Cyprus trees, and the most breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside. The kitchen is fully equipped and we appreciated the welcome basket. All bedrooms were comfortable, had amazing views, as well as en suite bathrooms. One of the highlights of our stay was having Emma cook two dinners. Everything was homemade and tasted incredible; we are still raving about her zucchini parmesan, flan, gnocchi, the delicious chicken and beef, and of course dessert! Matteo and Giancarlo were so knowledgeable about the surrounding areas; we absolutely loved the day trips they took us on to local vineyards and small towns. If you are planning a vacation to Tuscany look no further than Casa Pietraia, the peace and calm you will feel while at the villa is transforming and the hospitality from Emma, Giancarlo, and Matteo is unparalleled.
We cannot say enough about our wonderful two weeks at Casa Pietraia in Tuscany. The villa is perfect, with breathtaking views and a great location midway between Florence and Sienna. But the best part was our fantastics hosts - Emma, Giancarlo and Matteo. They were such a great help in planning our day trips to towns like Sienna, Volterra, Certaldo, Lucca and the others we visited. Maybe our most memorable part was our two cooking lessons with Emma, and then the experience of dining together with both families - enjoying the great food she guided us to make but the conversation. We can't wait to return.
We stayed at Casa Pietraia in 2016, and I have previously rated that stay Excellent. This review is strictly on the olive oil. We brought olive oil back from our past stay, but this year we wanted more. We ordered the oil via email with Matteo, and he made it easy to order. The oil arrived at our front door without a scratch. It is the best oil I have tasted. They make it from the olives that grow at the Casa. It tastes a little different every year, but it far surpasses any oil I have purchased here in the United States. In addition, when I use it, it takes my memory back to the wonderful stay we had at Casa Pietraia. That's a bonus.
Casa Petraia is a wonderful place to stay and experience the very best of Tuscany. It is a gracious and calming space, with gorgeous views over the surrounding countryside. If you have breakfast provided you will not be disappointed: everything was home-made including jams, jellies, freshly baked cakes and bread; gorgeous chestnut honey, and hazelnut spread made with finest artisan chocolate. The hosts are very welcoming, speak excellent English and are only too happy to share their extensive knowledge of the local area. A dream place for a holiday!
We stayed with our choir members in this wonderful place. Emma, Giancarlo and Matteo made us extremely welcome. Emma's Tuscan food was outstanding. We lingered over her delicious home made cakes at every breakfast. Matteo's guided walk was fascinating too, he clearly knows his history and the science of olive growing! The rooms and beds were very comfortable and the living room views fantastic. Could not fault the visit .. look forward to coming back one day.
My family and friends stayed at Agriturismo Casa Pietraia in October for my 70th birthday. We numbered 10 adults and one baby and we had the most enjoyable week in the Tuscan countryside thanks to the excellent hosts Emma, Giancarlo and Matteo. The villa itself is very homely and has wonderful views over the Tuscan landscape and all the amenities of a comfortable rural home. And then there was the fabulous lunch that Emma provided for the 70th birthday celebrations. Three wonderful courses, with wines to match and a huge birthday cake. Thanks you for a magnificent holiday
If you are going to Florence or the Tuscany region, you should stay at Casa Pietraia. Don't bother researching any further because you have just found the best of the best if you are looking for an authentic Tuscan experience! The villa is clean and spacious while offering a view that compares to no other. Matteo helped us plan our perfect Tuscan vacation. He recommended towns to visit, sites to see, restaurants to eat at, and even called and made reservations for us. Emma's farm to table cooking is absolutely lovely, and Giancarlo offers endless knowledge on the surrounding vineyards. Surrounding the villa are olive trees that they make their own olive oil from. We were particularly interested in the process, so Matteo did a tasting with us and taught us all about harvesting. We will definitely be going back for another vacation at Casa Pietraia, and hopefully even help with the olive harvest if we can get there at the right time of year. Matteo, Emma and Giancarlo gave us a vacation that we will remember forever!
