We spent two nights at the Black Horse Inn with two friends on a Travelzoo promotion of two nights' bed and breakfast with dinner from the set menu or £35 towards the a la carte menu on one night.

The accommodation was in superior rooms which were in a separate building across the street, where the rooms are named after Champagne houses. The room we were allocated was nicely furnished with French-style furniture with red accents, except for an ultra-modern red side table which I thought dreadful but, of course, that's personal taste. Soft furnishings were of good quality and towels were fluffy and white. Housekeeping was generally good except there was a stain on the bed sash, marks on the blind in the bathroom and the artificial flowers in the bathroom were dusty.

The inn is comfortably furnished and the bar stocks local ale. Alcohol is reasonably priced. Food was very good, excellent quality, flavoursome and nicely presented.

Staff are efficient and friendly. Miguel, the manager is a gem.

We'd happily return and recommend the inn.

We took our brother and sister in law away for a surprise treat for their 25th anniversary. The Black Horse Inn proved to be the perfect location. The Inn was charming and the superior rooms were quaint and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent and the staff very friendly. Not even the heavy rain on Saturday could spoil it. All in all a lovely experience.

Room Tip: Choose a superior room.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Upgraded to the Green room which was very comfortable and quirky. Food in the restaurant delicious and the service was excellent. Yes - there isn't much to do in the vicinity but if you are walkers, it doesn't really matter.
Stayed here because of an internet deal, and probably would not have paid full price, but would definitely return.

We were worried about our stay after receiving a call to say that an error had been made with our booking and we were unable to have the rooms we had originally been allocated. However, our replacement rooms were perfectly acceptable. The courtyard was a lovely place to sit in the sunshine and we certainly made the most of it. The highlights of our stay were the staff and the food. Our evening meal in the restaurant was beautiful and the staff very attentive without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. We were there to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday with friends. Our request to have breakfast in the courtyard the following morning was immediately accepted. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Superior room

We stayed on a TravelZoo deal last Thursday. The welcome was pleasant and professional, the room was excellent in the courtyard. The meal was Set Menu or £35 off A La Carte,so we checked the menu to save time later. We found both menus limited & not to our taste so in the restaurant we asked the Maitre d' if we could use our £35 allowance to have Charcuterie/wine (£20) from the specials menu with cheeseboard (£8) from the dessert menu.He said this would be fine but there would be a small surcharge of £4.We thought this was reasonable, enjoyed the meal, the rest of the evening & the breakfast.
However,on checking out the surcharge was £33!
There followed a short debate on what had been agreed, whether the Maitre d' had authority to agree our request & why he hadn't informed anyone.
Eventually we agreed an £8 pound surcharge & left feeling quite disappointed at this conclusion to what had been a very pleasant stay

We stayed overnight in the Perrier Jouet room across the road from the main Inn.
I had been disappointed at not being able to find time away from our busy jobs to go away for the weekend but boy !!!
After a wonderful meal in the Restaurant for our Anniversary.
A wonderful stay in a beautiful room detailed to die for a comfortable bed a beautiful bathroom. Fabulous food, fabulous wine (lots of great choices)
Warm and Friendly atmosphere with visitors from far and wide as well as locals.

Jane and Andrew were such great hosts attentive but not intrusive.

Wonderful service from all the staff and our stay topped off by a marvelous breakfast.

I cannot recommend enough whatever the occasion - I have been looking at there events calendar with great interest and hope to book again soon.

Stayed here for just one night. We had a courtyard Room which was small but had everything you needed including a cafetiere for that all important morning coffee. Lovely and peaceful and a comfortable bed. We didn't eat at the Inn at night but the restaurant was very busy. The cooked breakfast was very nice. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.
