Booked The Lodge for a 1940s weekend in Brighouse.
Rooms spacious, clean, modern and comfortable.
Owners Steve and Janet very amiable, could not do enough for guests.
The lodge is just over a mile from Brighouse in a green belt area surounded by lovely green fields.
Just far enough out to be away from it all but within a £4 convenient taxi ride.
Well recomended

Staying at this B&B was a very pleasant experience. The accommodation was smart and well-presented, the beds comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The hosts, Janet and Steven, were very welcoming.

On the edge of the Pennines with a green outlook, but only 20-25 minutes from the centre of Leeds. Would definitely recommend.

A great find! It's less than 3 miles (10 minutes) from Junction 25 on the M62, and good for touring. You're in a quiet rural setting, but on the edge of the village - so you can walk to shops (or the pub) if you want.

It's not an obvious destination for some - but it's just 4 miles (10 minutes drive) to Halifax (with its wonderful Piece Hall), 6 miles (15 minutes) to Bradford city centre and less than 10 miles (24 minutes) to Saltaire (with the Hockney gallery etc).

Over breakfast Steve told us that they ran this B&B for a whole year (with just friends and family as guests) to make sure everything was right! They tried all the local butchers' sausages to make sure they were serving the best (the breakfast was very good).

In your room (or ask Steve) are lots of suggestions on good places to eat out nearby.

We stayed 4 nights over Christmas while visiting relatives nearby and it was even better than we had hoped. Our room was warm, spacious and tastefully furnished with a big comfortable bed (two linked together to make one king-sized) and a large shower room. (The room and bathroom were in fact wheelchair accessible). Steven welcomed us and cooked us delicious breakfasts which included a fresh fruit salad and good hot coffee - we had a first-class Yorkshire breakfast 3 mornings and chose to have smoked haddock on Christmas morning. We enjoyed meeting the other guests in the comfortable breakfast room which we could use at any time to get extra milk or for anything extra to our tea-tray in the room. The location is convenient for a number of places to visit (we went to Saltaire on Christmas eve, Hardcastle Crags on Boxing Day, and for a curry in Bradford on Boxing Day evening.) We hope to go again and warmly recommend this friendly and comfortable B & B for anyone visiting the area.

A cross between an apartment and B&B. Was visiting the area and this was a lucky find. Nice owners who were happy to advise on the area and went out of their way to make you welcome without being intrusive.

Has only three rooms and therefore feels homely. Lovely, clean, cosy, nicely furnished and peacefully quiet. Had all of those little touches that are not too usual in my B&B experiences.
Not a lot more to say... Booked for 3 days and stayed a week!

I will be sure to check this place out on future visits.

we were going to a wedding in halifax and the B&B was recommanded by the bride.we felt very welcomed and the room we booked had all the disabled facilities for my husband. Janet and Steven were absolutely wonderful and also very attentive to what we needed. The breakfast in the morning was also delicious. We will definitely recommend it to friends and family and will definitely come back when we will travel again to halifax

In July 2013 my wife and I stayed at The Lodge at Birkby Hall for one night. The greeting from Janet and Steven was fantastic - we were made to feel like old friends. Our room was lovely and the breakfast, hosted and cooked by Steven was excellent and enjoyable. The accommodation is enhanced by the well stocked breakfast/lounge room - which available all day to guests.

Why twice as good ... well we packed, paid and departed on Monday morning and, on Janet's and Steven's recommendation enjoyed site-seeing around Haworth. Late that afternoon, rather than driving further, we rang Steven and found that there was just one room available that night - thanks to a late cancellation. Instead of driving any further we returned to The Lodge and enjoyed a second night every bit as pleasant as our first. Departing Tuesday morning we farewelled Janet and Steven as friends.

We will go out of our way to stay there again when next in England.
