“Lovely Experience”
Reviewed 23 April 2013

We were just visiting the area for one night and this hotel was recommended to us. Well appointed and well decorated room overlooking the river. Clean and airy and a good night's sleep. Breakfast was outstanding in a lovely, uncrowded and well decorated breakfast room. Loads of choice, all hot and fresh despite being based on a buffet. Eggs chosen and cooked to order. Staff were friendly, welcoming and smiled throughout . Would definitely come back if visiting the area. Paid £1.20 for two hours parking from 08:00 to 10:00 but the machine allowed us to pay the night before so we didn't have to rush out in the morning. We didn't eat in the Prego Restaurant although it looked lovely and was very busy. We had a drink in the bar. This was very cosy.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 203. reasonable space for a small double. Lovely view of the river from the wind...

Booked this hotel just for stop-over in between work, so we arrived very late and left early morning. Thus we didn't use any of the facilities but can comment on the room.

Receptionist was friendly and helpful.
Room was very small and basic, but clean and comfortable. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits supplied, and toilettries i.e. shampoo, shower gel and soap were supplied which were appreciated.
Bathroom was unpleasant - bad smell coming from somewhere. Shower was lovely and hot in the morning. Seemed clean enough but in need of revamp.
Bed was VERY soft which usually would be a negative for me, but actually it was quite comfortable and we slept well. Room was nice and quiet, which was appreciated as that's rare for hotels in general!
Plenty of pillows which is also unusual as hotels go, and room was nice and warm.
Price was reasonable.
Parking disappointing as it is 60p per hour, but as it was Sunday we didn't have to pay.

Room Tip: 3rd floor, executive rooms would be bigger.

It took a while for us to figure out the entry to the car park in the one way system. Luckily it was a Sunday-bank holiday as parking was free. If not it's 60p per hour. We arrived back late Sunday and had to avoid the drunk people in the pubs at the front, below the hotel. The room overlooking the road was noisy at night. The executive room was quiet. Not recommend for anyone with physical disability as fire doors were many, heavy and there was lots of stairs, lift was very slow and didn't operate all levels. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and the rooms were lovely and very clean. Super value for money.

Have stayed lots of times now at the Waterront lodge. Paid a reasonable price and its definitely worth the value when you stay. The rooms are ok, not particularly big and fairly basic as such but really good value for money for what you are actually paying for. The bed is a bit small as we had a twin room but perfectly comfortable. The staff are really friendly and helpful although the lift I have to say is a bit of a scarey ride...its very old. breakfast is fantastic and been fantastic each time and Prego, which is the restaurant attached to the hotel is lovely. Try the garlic bread.

Room Tip: Don't have an 11 room.

Found the hotel itself to be very efficient and clean, and for the price seemed quite modern and value for money. The breakfast was of good choice and good quality with a number of cooked items cooked to order. Not the best night sleep I've ever had as I felt a little uncomfortable in the single bed provided but nonetheless happy with the room and my stay with excellent staff and service. I stayed in room 109.

Stayed here with colleagues the night before a company meeting. My room 202 was very clean & fresh although the bathroom was very compact. I didn't have an evening meal here but the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The bar stayed open until 3am (so I'm told) for residents. I've said that my sleep quality was poor but that certainly was nothing to do with the facilities - more to do with other residents banging about the corridors & talking in the early hours! I'd choose to stay here again. Very nice.

This was the second time we had stayed at the waterfront lodge hotel and this was a nicer experience in many areas. ( That is not to say the previous one was all bad).
The check in was efficient and room No 103 was allocated. This room was ok but does have a sloping floor which feels a little odd but you do get use to it.
Its an old converted building so to be expected and i suppose adds to the character. There is wi fi to the rooms if you ask at reception for details
We used the bar late evening on return from an evening out and found this to be efficient and friendly
Breakfast the next day was mainly a buffet affair but for fresh eggs, fried brea,d hash browns or black pudding, could be ordered via the waitress.
location wise its located in the town centre area only 5 minutes walk from the Ritz Ballrooms where many functions and themed nights are put on.
So would i stay here again. Indeed yes.
It appears most rooms are different , some smaller or set out differently so its a bit pot luck unless u have one recommended.... i wasnt keen on room 208 which i used previously as its more suited to a single person use
