“It is good, especially the 'Executive' room”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

There is lots to commend the Waterfront Lodge, depending on the price you can get by searching different sites. We managed to get a Friday night in an 'Executive' room with breakfast for £50, which was very reasonable. The breakfast options are good. The room was very well appointed and nicely decorated, quiet, comfortable - all you could want. The only awkwardness with the Executive rooms is that they are not easily accessible by lift and are along a winding set of corridors and stairs - not a problem if you are fit but I think it might be an issue if you are not very confident with stairs or walking distances. Free wifi in the (executive) room worked perfectly and was welcome.

Room Tip: The Executive rooms are worth a little extra, providing the price is good.

Great choice of mine (I normally choose rubbish hotels haha) I upgraded to the executive deluxe with jacuzzi bath, room was clean room was spacious, jacuzzi and shower cubicle.

Fantastic breakfast in the bar downstairs.

Recommended stay in the luxury rooms for £55.

Only downfall was the hotel held £75 from my account for 3 days as a deposit without telling me as we'll as the £55 payment!

Spent a week here whilst on a training course. We got a discount for a group booking, but I have stayed in better quality and value hotels in the area. Basic but clean, rooms a little on the small side. Breakfast was tasty, but let down by the service.

Room Tip: Recommend upgrading to one of the executive rooms to get a little extra space.

We were just visiting the area for one night and this hotel was recommended to us. Well appointed and well decorated room overlooking the river. Clean and airy and a good night's sleep. Breakfast was outstanding in a lovely, uncrowded and well decorated breakfast room. Loads of choice, all hot and fresh despite being based on a buffet. Eggs chosen and cooked to order. Staff were friendly, welcoming and smiled throughout . Would definitely come back if visiting the area. Paid £1.20 for two hours parking from 08:00 to 10:00 but the machine allowed us to pay the night before so we didn't have to rush out in the morning. We didn't eat in the Prego Restaurant although it looked lovely and was very busy. We had a drink in the bar. This was very cosy.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 203. reasonable space for a small double. Lovely view of the river from the wind...

Booked this hotel just for stop-over in between work, so we arrived very late and left early morning. Thus we didn't use any of the facilities but can comment on the room.

Receptionist was friendly and helpful.
Room was very small and basic, but clean and comfortable. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits supplied, and toilettries i.e. shampoo, shower gel and soap were supplied which were appreciated.
Bathroom was unpleasant - bad smell coming from somewhere. Shower was lovely and hot in the morning. Seemed clean enough but in need of revamp.
Bed was VERY soft which usually would be a negative for me, but actually it was quite comfortable and we slept well. Room was nice and quiet, which was appreciated as that's rare for hotels in general!
Plenty of pillows which is also unusual as hotels go, and room was nice and warm.
Price was reasonable.
Parking disappointing as it is 60p per hour, but as it was Sunday we didn't have to pay.

Room Tip: 3rd floor, executive rooms would be bigger.

It took a while for us to figure out the entry to the car park in the one way system. Luckily it was a Sunday-bank holiday as parking was free. If not it's 60p per hour. We arrived back late Sunday and had to avoid the drunk people in the pubs at the front, below the hotel. The room overlooking the road was noisy at night. The executive room was quiet. Not recommend for anyone with physical disability as fire doors were many, heavy and there was lots of stairs, lift was very slow and didn't operate all levels. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and the rooms were lovely and very clean. Super value for money.
