Arrived late in the evening looking for a room after being stuck in traffic for 5 hours and missing our ferry. Also tour de france weekend. The two lovely ladies on reception were so helpful and friendly and really made our stay. The room was big enough and lovely and clean. Great quiet nights sleep. If ever we're in huddersfield again we would definitely stay here!

I arrived on July 1st for a one night stopover when on business in the area. I was checked in very quickly and efficient. The room was very clean and very big with a large kingsize bed. The hotel is located by a river but quite a distance from any villages or towns. The restraunt for evening meal is in a very nice pub 50 yards from the main building and serves excellent food. Breakfast is served in the main building and was also very good. All rooms are triple glazed so no noise from outside at night as the hotel is next to a road. Overall the hotel, staff and food are very good. I would definently return and recommend this to others.

Room Tip: Room at rear of the Hotel

Had a great two nights at the Premier Inn. A bit difficult to find if you're heading in from Huddersfield as the trees obscure the sign but we realised we'd missed it when we got to junction for the M62. Much easier to find heading back.

The hotel was full as Huddersfield was a good base for catching the first two days of the Tour de France whilst in Yorkshire. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Staff were excellent. We were in room 148. The only drawback was it was very hot in the room (the thermostat reading 25 degrees) but as it's situated on a busy road it was too noisy to keep windows open at night. However the fan worked well and was much quieter than the road. I purchased the 24 hour wifi for £3. Well worth it, speeds were good and I never had a problem getting online.

Breakfast was excellent. Good choice and great service. If you are thinking of eating next door at The Old Mill be prepared to wait. Even with a table booking we waited 90 minutes for a very average meal to arrive.

Would definitely stay here again, but maybe in the winter months !

Good beds, with clean and tidy room. Good breakfast for the money. Overall a very pleasant stay. Soundproofing to rooms was very good. Only drawback was no air con for a hot night, but leaving the windows ajar whilst we were out for the evening cooled the room.

We stayed here for two nights in mid June. We arrived a little too early for check in so we had lunch at the restaurant next door (good value food). When we checked in later we were allocated room 148 which looked out over the car park and busy road. It wasn't immediately obvious that it would cause a problem but later that evening we realised it was both hot and noisy. We had to open the window due to the heat but the noisy road made it hard to sleep.
The following morning we spoke to the manager and asked to be moved. We were given room 149 on the opposite side which looked out over the river. It was much quieter. The staff proved very helpful in dealing with the problem and seemed to appreciate the situation. We also had an issue with one of our neighbours who appeared to be smoking in their room and the smell was drifting into the corridor. The staff dealt with this swiftly too. There was an unfortunate incident the next day when we were out and about. We had locked the keys in our car and the only way to get them back was for my partner to smash one of the windows. In the process he injured his hand and needed first aid. When we arrived back at the hotel that evening the receptionist Lucy did an amazing job providing us with dressings and equipment, as well as helping us find someone to repair the window of the car. As we were late for dinner she called the restaurant next door to tell them to expect latecomers. We were very grateful for all her help. The staff here are great but the hotel is average at best. We have stayed in a lot of Premier Inns, mainly in the south and east of the country but this one falls short of the mark.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the river are quieter

Unless you are one of those people who can sleep in a very hot room without a window open this may not be for you.

The hotel is literally a stone's throw from a road that simply does not sleep.

I was in room 222 which, together with 221 and 223 are the closest to the road; see photo uploaded for an idea of how close.

There is no air conditioning in the room but a fan is provides; alas this will not suffice and is noisy in itself.

Rooms at the back of the hotel may be better and it may be worth asking for one of these rooms if you have to stay here, however, when large lorries come past the building at full speed the foundations do rumble.

The worst choice of Premier Inn I've made in a long time and not one I'll be using again if I can help it.
