We were a party of 4 booked for an Afternoon Tea through Groupon in June 2014.
Over the past few years we have enjoyed Afternoon Teas at many locations of differing sizes and prices.
This location was at the lower end of prices, but we were happy that it provided value for money.
The food offering of sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, and cake plus tea and coffee was perfectly adequate and enjoyed by all.
The venue is probably still feeling its way, but this was a quite reasonable start as far as we were concerned.

We booked through groupon for an evening meal, we were told when we booked by phone that the original menu that was on the internet was not available but a good choice menu had replaced it, on arrival we were met and led into the bar for drinks, the staff were extremely friendly and professional... we were given the menu that had plenty of choice on, I had the steak the wife had lamb shank, my steak was cooked to perfection and the wifes lamb shank was so tender it fell off the bone, the deserts were just as good, whilst we was there a lady was kicking off about the menu change even tho she had been told on booking it was a different menu, the staff handled it in a very professional way but you can tell when people just want to cause a fuss about nothing!! We had a lovely experience there, the food was beautiful, the staff were brilliant, I can't and won't fault it and will definiately be going back to their relaunch. The new manager spent time with us answering any questions we had and we was even given a free glass of wine each because the other rude lady got a free bottle, the only people who made us feel uncomfortable were the inconsiderate guests that wasn't even willing to give the new management a chance. Ignore the below reviews go see for yourself and taste the excellent food coming from their kitchen... 5 stars all round guys, you were the perfect hosts and made us feel like we were royalty, we will be coming again and good luck with the relaunch..

We booked a meal for two, using a Groupon voucher, for Saturday 28th June. As we were waiting to be seated, we could hear the kitchen staff shouting at each other about various issues, which just about set the tone for the evening. When we were eventually shown the menu it was completely different to the one on Groupon. We were also told that the chef had walked out that morning, which was the reason for the change, but the validity of this statement is doubtful. The selection of food on offer wasn't exactly appealing - sausage and mash, pasta and Stroganoff - and we were charged £13.50 for a bottle of wine which was probably less than a fiver from Tesco.
We had pate for the starter and salmon pasta for the main course; both of which we could have cooked to a much higher standard ourselves at home. The pate was basically a bread roll heated up with shop bought pate shoved into a pot.
After speaking to other couples who also ate there on the Saturday evening, everyone appears to have had a terrible experience. Definitely would not recommend to anyone.

I wanted to provide a dispassionate review but even after a good night's sleep, I'm still infuriated by the hapless charade of yesterday evening's "meal" at Gomersal Lodge. We too we're told the tale that the chef had walked out, but the remaining staff couldn't agree whether that had happened two days ago or just yesterday. The wine list - Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, red or rose - set the standard for the evening. I should like to congratulate the "chef" on making the 80s-style salmon vol-au-vant starter taste of the square root of nothing. Literally nothing. The lemon chicken main course was lacking plenty of things, including lemon. It tasted of...nothing. In contrast the lamb stroganoff (the two other reviewers "enjoyed" the final 5 pieces of beef) was full of flavour; it was packed with mustard. Stroganoff. Mustard. Hmm. Our complimentary cheese and biscuits really took the biscuit; served with mayonnaise and (more) mustard, the biscuits were in fact stale bread rolls torn into small chunks. I could go on. Faults galore at Faulty Towers. I would urge you in the strongest possible terms not to set foot over the threshold of this place.

Wow. We have just arrived home after what I can only describe as a shockingly bad experience here. We booked about a month ago to use our Groupon voucher for a meal for two. We were very much looking forward to the evening and when we drove up to the hotel, it was in beautiful grounds and looked promising. That promise all disappeared the moment we walked in. We were advised that the chef had walked out and so the menu is not the one we had paid for on Groupon. We got a drink and were escorted to the dining room. The waitress asked us to sit anywhere so we chose a lovely table by the window. She then said we couldn't sit there as it was for four people! We waited about twenty minutes for one starter, which was a warmed up part baked petit pain and some pate, it was ok. Our main course took a further 30 minutes. We had both ordered the beef stroganoff with chips. I had 2 pieces of beef in mine and my partner had 3. It was at this point we decided to leave despite the fact I was due a dessert. The bar manager was good enough to refund our drinks on our request and we used this at the fish shop on the way home Doyles at Gomersal hill top. This I would recommend. The staff advised us they were new. I really think they should have just closed for the evening. We are still in shock! We did ask to speak to the manager but he had conveniently nipped out. Shocking.

so, we bought a Groupon coupon for £20 which Groupon stated was a £55 face value. this was a gift for my girlfriends sister however, due to a change in circumstances, we ended up going ourselves....really wish we had not bothered

approach to the lodge is up a non surfaced driveway full of potholes, a nice shiny ice bucket outside for cig ends and you enter the Hallway. we were shown to the bar where my GF ordered a red wine and I ordered a pint of lager, no lager left on pump so a bottle of lager instead. then started the search for the bottle opener that lasted 10 minutes. the bar is dated, with a couple of sofas and a couple of chairs... not looking good we thought.

the young man behind the bar who I can only assume is new then brought us a couple of menu's. of which were two pages of the most basic food ever, think really low class little chef! I challenged at this point as the menu we had seen online when we booked the voucher was vastly different, to be told that Chef had left and this was the new one... tinned soup to start and pretty much the best you can buy in Aldi for main course.

shown to our table and the starter was minimal, limp and not very tasty at all. the main course was Lamb Shanks and to be honest, it was bloody awful, flat cold and just not a lot of it. we sent the food back, to be offered a microwaved lasagne and frozen scampi and chips!!

in the end we sent this back too as it was horrible... would never ever return to this place, and would never ever tell a friend to visit, maybe someone I didn't like!

eaters beware, don't chance it
